Hi all,

I'm finally starting my water cooled project. Around Feb 22 I'll start to buy my main parts, which 'should' consist of the following:

Core i7 920
ASUS Rampage II Extreme X58
6GB (3x2GB) Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz
Sapphire 4870X2
NEC MultiSync 24WMGX3
Corsair HX1000
Vista Ultimate 64
CPU / GPU High End Watercooling - (I'll list parts nearer the time)

I also plan to cut through my motherboard tray to hopefully achieve perfect cable management and I'll be doing plenty of braiding (my first time) on all cables.

But in the meantime I've decided to have my case internals powder coated a matt black.

So let's begin by stripping the case down.......completely!

It's superb how much you can take away from the case.

Ready to go to the powder coaters.

As soon as I get the parts back I'll post more info and pics.

I was thinking of getting the TJ07...

Can I ask, how will you mount the rad in the bottom portion of the case? Are mounting brackets already provided out of the box? I understand that a 120.2 can also be fitted in the roof, is there a bracket for this?

My TJ09 has a bracket available to fit a 120.2 rad to the roof, Im just wondering if the TJ07 was the same?

Hi Daniel,

I'm looking to get the TFC Xchanger - Quad Radiator 480 so I'll also have to get some mounting blocks, which the case doesn't come with. Yes a 120.2 can be fitted in the roof and I've seen it done many times. Obviously there is already a bracket there for the 2 120mm fans but I'm not sure if you'd have to get an additional bracket to accommodate the 120.2 as I've not looked into it.

I'm hoping the Quad Radiator will do me fine.

Cheers,

Great yet simple case, like the way it strips down how it does, wish i had one so i could learn a thing or two about it, myself thou would do any hard mods on it if any before it gets powder coated.

Subscribed. :) I get the feeling this ones going to be good. :)

Cheers! 110% effort going in.

I thought about getting it cut before I powder coat it but I haven't got my parts yet so I can't really measure where I need the cuts to be. Plus, I'm going to use blow hole trim, which will the give the holes a nice smooth finish anyway.

i want that case...but have to stop spending money on cooling and case mods or i will never be able to afford I7 in the summer :(

LOL, I feel for you mate. Quit spending and get saving.

UPDATE:

Powder coaters have received my bits so I've got to let them do their magic now. Going to order some blow hole trim, sunbeam PSU Modding kit and a couple of fan controllers this week also.

I'll be keeping an eye on this m8 :)

Some advice on the water cooling parts.
The i7's get super hot when clocked, and the best blocks for them are the Koolance 350 and Swiftech GTZ, the D-Tek is also very good, but they don't have a mounting kit for 1366 yet.

Also if mounting a dual rad up top, you'll have to use a slim one like the Magicool or swifties, since others are to thick and wont fit with the mobo in also.

Also you can mount and quad rad and dual in the bottom. Will be a tight fit depending on the size of your PSU but it can work :)

Oh invest in some paiters maskingtape, last thing you want is that powdercoat finish to be ruined when you start cutting :)

Best of luck m8. :D
