Have to Say im pretty impressed with this design. Could it become a trent to oldschool designs

Do we hope for a reimagined ROG Ares 2009 that seamlessly blends into the colour and design of this retro board.
 
I love it.

I’ve got an original 2006 Crosshair - they would look good together.
 
I like the look of that but like most of these things it'll go to YouTuber's to make videos of it and hardly any will actually be in stock for us plebs to buy.
 
That is gorgeous!! Nice to see heatsinks exposed and not covered by unnecessary plastic trim which must surely degrade the cooling ability. That original 2006 board has the 24 pin connector in a weird place. Also, just see how many pci-e slots we have lost. I know M2 slots have to go somewhere but a pair of pci-e slots on a high end motherboard is a joke.

This is giving me flashbacks in a not good way - I had a Asus Striker Extreme in those blue and copper colours / layout and it was a complete piece of **** to the extent I finally took a hammer to it literally and replaced it :s

I remember you telling this before still makes me laugh. Those nForce chipset boards could be an absolute nightmare especially the earlier ones. I did the same to one recently it was a striker (680 perhaps? Can’t remember). Tried for days to get it working.

In the end I took a flat head screw driver to the CPU socket. Man that felt good.

Yeah the 680 based boards - lots of issues with that chipset but the main issue with those Strikers (or other P5N variants) was the slightest flex in the board would crack the solder on the south bridge chip - if I'd known at the time I could have reflowed it though that would have probably just prolonged the aggro with it.
