This is my replacement monitor that i've had for several months now. The first was RMA'd due to pulsing of the backlight in normal desktop use.

Now this one for a while wouldn't correctly detect video signal unless turned off then on again. This is a documented problem on forums.

NOW it won't even turn on.
What I have to do is unplug the power brick several times then it will come on.

To me the brick is suspect.
I haven't changed any monitor OSD settings.

I would like Asus to give me a brick only, think they will do this?

As the monitor has no dead pixels and an even back light I don't want to return the whole thing!

The power brick is dodgy in low power situations on these :| mines starting to do the randomly turning itself on/going into standby when not in use.

Got an old laptop adapter that seems to be the same voltage and capable of the wattage required so might stick that in it.

According to another post somewhere on here Asus will send out a new power supply individually.

That's it Rroff, I forgot that it used to come on at night (when the tower was off) and freak the **** out of me when trying to sleep!

At least it came on back then!
Asus were good with the RMA to be fair, here's hoping they're ok this time as well.

They are great for RMA, got some insects stuck behind my screen (don't ask me how lol) a courier came and swapped the monitor there and then with a new one. No waiting for repair or assessment :)

My guess is if it is the brick they will swap/send you a new one without an issue.

Nope Asus said my RMA monitor not covered by any repair warranty and won't give me a brick.
They suggested I contact vendor I.e. ocuk.

I'll ring them next.

If they don't sort this I'll be mad!

I can't get the monitor on at all atm. Why should I have to buy a third party brick?

Interesting that's the same response I got from ASUS when I first raised the exact same issue with the powerbrick. I went back and forth a few times between ASUS and the place I bought it from but in the end I got great service from ASUS and they replaced it on site with a great RMA service.

Rang Asus who said to use my original monitors serial number for RMA application which worked.

However the automated e-mail says to pack up everything!
I rang back saying I just need an ac adapter but the chap says he can't change the protocol. Even suggested I buy my own adapter!
They are £50+! That's if you can find one....

I am happy with my monitor backlight is even and no dead pixels, if they send me a replacement there is no guarantee it will be the same way.

That aside it is so wasteful!

Edit: couldn't sleep and remembered Asus never ask for cables and adaptors on an RMA...
So there should be a spare/new adapter in my monitor box and there was!

So the faulty one is from the first monitor I had and the new one (which works BTW, yay) from the replacement monitor which obviously comes with everything.

Pretty expensive for what appears to be little more than a generic 19v/90watt power adapter - if mine packs up think I'll just DIY one.

I've just been through the same back and forth, Asus have now agreed to replace just the brick but I have to arrange collection of the brick and then they'll send a replacement, so ill be without a brick for about a week

The power supply on mine went soon after posting above - was using another laptop adaptor I had lying around that happened to be the same specs but had to use that for the original device again so ended up buying a £15 generic replacement PSU for an Asus F3S laptop (19V 4.74a) so far works well.

The official Asus ones are trash and not worth £50 and I suspect any RMA replacement will die sooner rather than later unless they've revised them.

EDIT: Oh and my RMA replacement for the monitor didn't come with any cables/power adapter even though it said it did - wasn't worth chasing up though as I'd rather use a substitute.

I actually ended up with a better panel - the replacement seems to have a lighter anti-glare coating so whites are whiter which makes things look sharper and colours "pop" more - slightly more backlight bleed than the original but that might be due to the heavier coating on the original reducing it a bit.

Had the exact same issue. They sent me a new power supply but it arrived damaged. Had a long argument with them over a couple of weeks before they would send me another one. Finally I spoke to somebody else and they apologised and set up the order. Still haven't received it though, been two weeks now.

Oh and my current power brick is so bad now the monitor won't switch off. Pretty annoying at night!

Their RMA is shocking - first they lost mine on the system (though that was quickly sorted to be fair) then just over 3 weeks with nothing happening and about to get in touch with them again and then got a text message out of the blue saying your delivery from "let me repair" or something like that will be with you within the hour - which I could only guess was the monitor as I wasn't expecting anything else - fortunately working late shifts at the moment so was still at home.

EDIT: Though that is somewhat said in contrast to my experiences at the same time - I had a couple of other things I had to RMA (not computer related directly) about the same time:

One of them (Farnell) got back to me minutes after informing them of the problem - they dispatched a replacement specially by courier at their additional expense the same night which turned up a day later and even told me to keep the faulty products if I wanted as they were still functional just not suited for the intended application.

The other had a 72 hour turn around and kept me informed at every point.
