Roku 3 or Generic Android box?

yes - If you want a roku 2 4205e model look on longest river they are £30 today.
same as roku3 dual-band/ethernet/usb media/fast processor but just missing voice control /headphone on remote - same as 4210 in table afaik

EDIT :maybe reduction heralds the imminent roku 4k ultra etc. arrival in the UK but that will be >= roku 3 = £70

well the roku 2 4205e, with same processor as roku 3, is night and day, compared to older nowtv box, interface is fluid - couple of issues though -

- First Roku box I have had, but like nowtv, seems you have to create an account with them : paypal/cc, before box is usable, even if you already have a nowtv account .
- Sound quality on Now tv box was always poor with now tv app, however with the roku I set it to 2 ch lpcm on global settings, and I think the quality off of the av system is better - my theory is that now tv is only 2ch and that previosuly, having nowtv box encode/send it as 5.1 may have degraded end result -?

Bagged one of the roku 2 boxes for 30 quid and plugged it in last night. I pretty much only use it for plex and have replaced an amazon fire TV. So simple to set up, had it streaming in 10 mins and my logitech harmony set up in another 10. And plays dts in plex which I was mostly after.
Good little box and for 30 quid definitely can't go wrong.

Nice little feature I found out about the Roku today is that it natively supports wireless presentation mode with windows 10. The mouse speed is very good and the picture quality is fantastic, even the sound quality is good. Very impressed.

Can I ask what do you mean by this?

You can stream your desktop to the Roku without any other additional hardware?

If so, that is awesome and why is this not advertised more, surely that is a killer feature.

Tried this last night on the Roku 2 I bought from Amazon a few weeks ago and it worked brilliantly. Just enabled screen mirroring in the settings and then added the device in W10 device manager and hey presto.

ymmv just this but comments indicate it/miracast is not robust - so did not try to use it

I worked from home the other day and used it for about 6 hours so I could have dual screen with my laptop for the day and it was flawless.
