I wanna take the gf away for 7-10 days some point in April - not really sure where to go though, i wanna stay somewhere in Europe but i want something other than the obvious Paris of course, something different. Wanna spend about a grand :)

I've never been to Paris but I can say that Rome is a right ****hole!

The ruins are AMAZING, but there is graffiti everywhere and the drivers are MAD!

Paris is the better choice!

Paris is a ****hole too TBH, although it may have got better as the last time I went there was about 10 years ago.

This might sound mental but i've litterally just booked 3 days in rome with my ex who split up with 7 months ago to see what happens...and im paying for the lot so i hope its worth it :P Yes i know MUG on my forhead...

The Graffiti has a history in Roman history if you read about it and as for the drivers are mad? You seen how the French drives? lol

I've been to both, and Rome is much nicer, even though i got pickpocket there.

I've been to Barcelona too (which I LOVED). Paris was okay, but Barcelona and Rome are nicer.

Plus, Rome is smaller, you can walk everywhere. Paris is a lot bigger.

LOL, good luck. We were there from Monday to Thursday, not enough time actually to see everything we wanted.

When are you going? The place is just oh so pretty I think.

I took these 2/3 weeks ago. (Technically, I can't take credit for 100% of these as I AM in a couple of these lol)

Take an umbrella with you.
Watch out for your wallet.
Don't eat in tourist places (if its more than 10 euros for a pizza, you are being rippoff) I've seen a place charging 7.50 euros for a coffee.
The Vatican is a MUST, you went all the way there after all (so is the view at the top). So is the Colosseum. The rest you can walk through/discover.
Start the day early, it gets dark as quick as the UK in the winter. It was dark by about 4:30 the other week.

Some people say get a Roma pass, we didn't, we did get a 3 day Metro pass from the machine, which allow unlimited access and was good enough. And pay for stuff when we need it.

Oh, Maccy D's there does nice coffee too....so if you just want a caffeine kick, 1 euro is all you need.

And good luck ! :)

Cheers mate, will take that advice onboard! Being a half italian greaseball myself ive allways wanted to go there to see the ruins ect so even if it doesnt work out on the lady front i'm sure i will still enjoy myself! :)
