Romantic Meals?

duck with a cranberry sauce gravy, new potatoes and mange tout worked for me. oven cook the duck, get a jar of decent cranberry sauce and stick it in a pan with some chicken stock, melt it all down and reduce it slightly so it gets reasonably thick.

you can slice the duck up all fancy if you want or serve it whole, pour over the sauce, toss the potatoes in butter and seasoning and serve with the mange tout. you can also toss the mange tout in a bit of garlic, olive oil and butter for a bit of extra extravagence :D

for desert? strawberries and a bottle of champers goes down well ;)

You got a recipe for the Rissotto parcles, they sound good fellor

will dig it out when i get home, unfortunatley most of the recipes i have are paper rather than internet based.

basic gist of it is, make a standard white wine risotto, allow to cool completely, take a large spoon of rissotto and place it in your hand, and mould into a roughly cup shape, put the filling in there. anythign you feel like i normally go with sun dried tomatoes and either feta or mozarella, then pull the sides over the top to form a ball, make approx.2-3 of these each depending on size.

i would suggest 3 as odd numbers work better for presentation,

then dip into egg flour and breadcrumbs to coat.

put back into the fridge to firm up,

place into a hot pan with plenty of oil and shallow fry, turn regularly until golden brown.

serve immediately on a bed of salad ( herb salad for preference) and a good measure of redcurrant sauce or any other fruity sauce/chutney.

Start: Crepes Suzette

If you get the starter right, the rest of the meal is easy! Don't be tempted to skimp on the starter :)

Main: Fillet steak (yes I'm a vegetarian but you're not I take it), with mushroom and mascarpone and serve with asparagus (steamed, not boiled).

There's a good mushroom/mascarpone sauce recipe here:

http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/recipes/vegetarian/272836/

Dessert: buy a decent Tiramisu from M&S with some pouring cream. Home made food is best with a little effort but there's no way you can produce as good a Tiramisu as M&S.

Prawn cocktail (dead easy) or melon (dead easy)

Ribeye Steak with a Roquefort cheese sauce and dauphinoise (also fairly easy)

NYC style cheesecake (dead easy)

Fairly cheap too :)

Prawn cocktail but to make it a bit different serve on a large outer leaf of ice berg lettuce or 2 leaves from a little gem.

Serve the steak with griddled asparagus. Just brush with olive oil and cook until tender. Remember to bend the root end until it snaps. This gets rid of the naturally woody root bit. )it breaks in the right spot.

fish n chips with peas. and some greasy buttered bread.

maybe after, a bit of battenburg cake with a shandy.

by eck.
