Mrsyoustolemyname is on a detox for some reason....dunno why as she never 'toxes' in the first place.

Anyway, part of this detox involves drinking rooibos tea, so off we went to Tescos to get some. Now I am quite partial to green tea. Infact, I would go to say that I really like green tea. Green tea is an acquired taste, much like real ale and marmite. But this rooibos is fantastic!

It has no caffeine in it so it's a nice bedtime drink, full of antioxidants so it antioxidises you (whatever that means) and it actually tastes quite nice from the off. A bit of googling shows it has super powers as well, which is nice.

I can't decide which tastes better though...rooibos with milk or without.

So, OcUK, anyone drink rooibos? How do you take your rooibos?

I drink it because I find tea helps with a condition called alchasia that I've got (can make eating hard). As caffeine can worsen this condition, I tried the Redbush brand of rooibos. It's lovely! I leave it in for 5 mins; it goes a warm orange/red and smells gorgeous. I'll then mix in a teaspoon of local honey (good for hayfever) and sometimes milk - sets me up for the day :D

I recommend it!

I find rooibos sickly, I really have to be in the mood.

Green tea is lush, however I prefer white tea. The clipper white tea with blackcurrant from Tesco is great. Apparently, white tea is the best for antioxidants too.

not a fan of Roobos tea myself, its very SA, and i was brought up drinking other kinds of tea.

anyway, Antioxidants are what stops your meat from becoming rotten meat.

example, take a piece of fresh steak, pour someting over it that removes the antioxidants. wait 15 seconds and you'll have a brown piece of rotting meat.

nasty.

Have a mug of rooibus tea in front of me at the moment. I just drink it at night so I don't get full of caffeine before bed. I usually drink it without milk just because I drink a lot of normal tea with milk.

Not hugely keen on it myself but didn't know it was good for you. I might try and sub some of my daily tea drinking for it.

Is rooibus any different to normal green tea? I quite like normal green tea, it makes me feel quite chilled, especially after a large meal.

Rooibos is totally different to normal green tea. For a start it is reddy/orange when brewed and it doesn't really taste of tea at all.

Best way to describe it is it smells kind of like germolene but tastes totally different to how it smells. It's very nice, try it you might like it :)

What's the worst that can happen?

lol, I love the term 'aquired taste' which basically means it tastes like **** and I like ****.

Rooibos is AWESOME, I judged my wife by how well she makes my cup ! :D

Some Honey and a slice of lemon in it, and I'm one happy bunny

(no milk ofc)

Hardly. It tastes different fomr normal tea. For some people that's.. like.. madness or something.

I like roobois tea. Although i drink a lot of tea, i cant hack any caffiene after ~7pm else it keeps me up. Roobois is perfect :)

My ex-flatmate used to love it but then she was a bit of a tea-junkie, one cupboard was entirely filled by various varieties. Can't say I ever acquired the taste though, a good strong cup of ordinary tea is fine by me. :)

//edit and apparantly without milk was the way to have rooibos.

I'll have to give it a bash.... Do they sell it in Tesco or anywhere like that, or will I have to venture further afield?
