Rooting Galaxy S3 and then "unrooting"

Hi guys,
I found many threads online how to root my girlfriend's SGS3 and that is not the issue here.
Say that I root thus voiding the warranty of the device and then the device (brand new on O2 btw) breaks in 2 months. Can I restore it to it's original state so that when I send it for repairs the technicians won't recognize it has been rooted thus declining repair. In other words- can I hide that I have rooted the phone?
I really wanna go Vanilla Android, my Nexus 7 is amazingly smooth and no matter what tricks I tried with the GSG3 it is still choppy more often than not.

Thanks a lot and have a good weekend.

I think its very good timing that I have noted your thread. I have just recently got into the rooting game on my galaxy s3:

You can either go back to stock samsung unrooted by:

1. flashing stock firmware on Odin. The download links for the software are all available on xda developers website.

2. You can actually restore the firmware to the latest one using emerency firmware/recovery via the samsung kies software program. These two methods should work with bringing the phones back to stock unrooted.

As far as I'm aware, Samsung should repair the phone under warranty after you have done that. However, there is a flash counter that increases every time you flash a new ROM. The only way to remove this is with an app called "triangle away". I personally feel that after reading about it, using it seems like an unnecessary risk, so I don't mind the flash counter.

Secondly, I recommend you try the Supernexus 2.0 ROM by Faryaab on Xda developers if you want to try a nexus like rom with minimal tweaks. I have used it for a fortnight and find it to be mostly stable with slightly worse battery life than the samsung ROM. The postive of this ROM being that it does seem to make the phone very responsive and quick and most importantly of all, the multitasking works as it is not as RAM hungry as the samsung software. Edit: I also recommend you try softkey enabler to have onscreen buttons with this rom. I hardly use the home key now. The capacitive buttons are still functional if you still want it but the mutitask button is so nice.

Finally, I do miss a lot of the sofware samsung have put it after using supernexus 2.0 but the performance gains seem to far outweight it at present.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

Thanks a lot for the quick help and good news, mate.
If what you said is indeed the way Samsung would proceed then I will by all means root these days.
By the way- I will only root once anyway, don't want to tinker too much.
And as for Samsung pre-loaded apps- I guess some of them are helpful and some- pure weed. I seriously doubt my girlfriend uses any of them anyway :)

Thanks a lot and have a good weekend.

If it's for your phone, definitely root it... if it's for anyone else leave it be. You'll be blamed for anything that goes wrong for the next 2 years
