Car is 2000 Toyota Celica. Seems to be idling very low. If i pull up to traffic lights the rev's will drop to say 800rpm approx for a bit but then after about 5 seconds they will drop to about 500rpm and I can feel quite a bit of vibration. This only happnes after the engine has warmed up properly (after the cold engine cycle/automatic choke, whatever its called has stopped)

Also, occasionally it seems like the power you normally get over 3000rpm just doesnt kick in properly.

Ive seen it could be any number of things..or that i am just being paranoid.

500rpm does seem a little low for idle engine speed doesnt it?

500rpm is definately low. could be a whole list of problems. best off asking a toyota board or speaking to someone who specifically knows toyotas

Upon further inspection it might actually be idling at 700rpm ish

What I don't know is whether those lines corrospond to a tenth or 5th of 1000 as it is differnt between the 0 and 1 ( I know its a tenth between every other denomination)

I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be able to tell.

id be tempted to pull the IACV and clean that as well as the throttlebody...

also pull the maf and clean out the sensor with electrical contact cleaner.

check the air intake filter, then pull the plugs...
