A word of warning, do not think you can beat an online table by doubling up.

My mate was doing really well with £1 stake roulette (doubling up on losses). He was £70 up when it all went wrong.

I was absolutely ****ing myself then reality set in. He was betting red at the time then 7 blacks in a row wiped him out. As if that wasn't enough I left the room and then he tried to carry on. Luckly he started again with £2 bets (rather than picking up where he left off) trying to win back but it just carried on giving black.

I think he's lost over £300 and there's been over 9 blacks in a row followed by a green and then 4 more blacks. I'm sure you can see why I was laughing, what a joke.

Oh God I feel so sorry for him. Worse think is I told him it would be a good idea. lol I was looking forward to giving it a go too, I think I'll pass now.

Isn't roulette just based on luck though?

At least with Blackjack and Poker you can card-count (although it is very hard to do so) and Poker also comes down to natural aptitude too, knowing what to do in certain situations, when to bluff, etc. I don't really see the appeal of roulette.

That's true the house always wins.

I think the best way to play those kinda games is limit yourself say £10 a week, then if win or lose its not so much of a problem.

He'd been playings blackjack and I said just give roulette a ago, only up to £20 for fun. Anyway he'd been going for an hour and was doing really well. There was blatently sum guy choosing the numbers just to end his winning streak.

I mean no red for 14 or 15 in a row...... what are the odds?

The odds are 0.5 for each time but not for the whole time in one.

Eh? If black came up 13 times, the odds of getting black on the 14th go are 0.5, but the actual odds of getting 14 blacks in a row is 0.5^14 surely?

Not quite. Remember there is a 0, so the odds of red or black isnt exactly 0.5
So 0.485^14

You can't card count in poker, the cards get fully shuffled between each deal.

I used to play on the live tables for some idiotic reason. Thankfully I managed to get away £40 up and I got my accounts closed.

Roulette tables with real money changing hands have suitably close boundaries such as the house wins on average if you try to stack bets.

The only easy, certain way to beat them is matched betting etc.

thats the martingale system, ive done it on betfair with £10, and won £270 when i stopped

it doesnt work in the long run, but in the short run it works well, that saying if you continue to play eventually you will loose everything

They don't Live. And not all online Poker Sites have a continuous shuffling technique. Full tilt doesn't iirc. Not that it would effect the outcome in the slightest anyway.

They do at the casinos I go to. At least everyone second deal anyway.
