Hey Guys
Just checking my sanity here!
In the below image, the lower numbers are the travelling path to the exit on the upper side!
Now I always take 1 path, and I sometimes get a lot get people driving on the 2 path. The exit on the top of the picture is a single lane with a slightly larger expanded entrance to the road!

I was always taught never to cross a white line in a roundabout if possible, hence I take the outer lane!

Yesterday I had an old guy pull away at the same time as me on the lower numbers and try to squeeze in on the exit, then proceeded to scream out of his window, gave him a friendly wave and drove on :).

It depends on the markings, some roundabouts like that have the left lane get off and turn 1.

It’s unusual for a left lane to exit at turn 3.

Depends on markings - I don't really see a problem on that layout using either approach aslong as people signalled correctly though sometimes marked line 1 continuing past that exit I do have problems with.

I probably should have checked the highway code in the first place, found this on the NI gov page. As close as an example I could find!

Assuming there's also no signage to match the lack of marking I'd say either were acceptable. That exit is wide enough for both "lanes" to merge in turn. The old boy was likely peeved at not being quicker than you.

The two island apexes look quite tight when you look at the size compared to that artic coming in from the right so had you joined behind something like that, you would have been very wise to hang back and give it both lanes on the exit.

(Edited to explain which apexes I'm referring to)

2 is what I would say to be the "correct" route on that roundabout as it has 4 exits and no markings telling you otherwise.

However you should both be making allowances for people assuming each lane is correct

Two is the correct line for me. One is the one 'that person' takes because you get the pinch point after two exits and they are STILL there.

I would say route 2 based on the fact the exit is actually a slight right turn from the entry. However, using either is probably OK if you allow for the fact people will use both.

Found it. Left lane is straight on based on the sign post, but following it through on Streetview this feels wrong. I expect the locals take lane 2 normally?

Sorry mate, I thought you meant signs directing you to take a specific lane!

Some people take 1, some take 2. If I find im next to someone on the exit I usually give it a bit to pull away then take my normal time going through the roundabout.

The exit is straight on it seems and also two lanes to begin with although there's no white centre road marking. OP was in the right I believe and old codger should not be getting arsey with other drivers anyway.
Old codger also approached in the second lane so should have exited wide (invisible lane 2) and then merged in not swept across into lane 1 so early, at least not without checking that there's a car next to them first. I't difficult to see how wide the exit is.

Reminds me of one of my hates - locals who assume everyone knows the local roads and trouble spots as well as they do. Drivers need to allow for others making mistakes, not get angry at them.

Turns out I actually know this roundabout now I've seen the street view - no way I'd be going round there in the left lane, albeit my comment about watching out for people that do still applies

I would say that either lane was valid, but I’d be adjusting my speed either faster or slower so that I didn’t end up side by side with someone else at the exit.
