Roundabout's - marks set go go go!!!!

I've found people getting slower, i pretty much always boot it off the line and go as fast as is safe to do (usually top of the speed limit if theres cameras, else faster), keeps the flow of traffic going more freely.
You get all the people, usually driving rovers "If you set off two hours early to do your weekly shop you can go slow and save petrol"
Ha ha, no. Some of us have jobs and lives where we want to get where we are going as fast as possible, even if it means shouting heavy violent abuse at slowpokes.

I think one of the biggest problems is people who hesitate in pulling out. The amount of people this week alone who have thought "I can go" then changed their minds, only to end up lurching out at me so I have to swerve to avoid them as I go around the roundabout is staggering.

there's a roundabout near me with a solid-line protected filter lane. the number of people who stop and give way to the right while using this lane continually shocks me.

I love those, there is one on the outskirts of Poole/Bournemouth...I'll go wizzing along through the lane and scare the proverbial out of anyone that doesn't realise what the lane is for...although I did start to ease off a bit on the right foot as one time I was approaching and there was lots of traffic...someone had used the lane at too high a speed and somehow flipped their car. :/

I hate that most people don't get 'giveway to right' I almost went into the side of some dopey cow because I was going round a roundabout and she pulled out in front of me. There were two lanes on from where she came, the car in the one nearest to me stopped and waited, the other car (said dopey cow) pulled across, then after I'd slammed on the anchors and beeped a little bit and shaken my head she gave the the dirtiest look...as if I'd just pulled out on her.

Runabouts are fun though, as lots of people don't seem to understand them, which often results in me having right of way. :D

Living in Milton Keynes, you get used to it :)

good god i hated that day we went through there as a short cut to silverstone.... theres like a roundabout every 50yards isnt there? ;)

Agreed. And I'm finding the number of utter twonks that are stopping for perfectly empty roundabouts and approaches to be stupidly tedious.

FFS GO, IT'S CLEAR YOU ~@!*^#%

yup, nearly crashed into one of these guys... totally clear round about, he isnt slowing down, im seeing its clear constantly checkin it, and him... then at the last minute he slams breaks on for the giveway line :o

the #1 one thing that irritates me about roundabout its lane discipline, i literally give abuse to somebody every single day because I'll approach a roundabout and want to turn right, so i get in to the right hand lane as there are 2, someone in the left going straight on so we head off and LOW AND BEHOLD they decide to drift across in to my lane because its a straight line.

One of these days I will just let them hit me.

There is far too much emphesis on speedingand not enough on general road rules/skills, I stand by that 100%.

I usually approach a roundy either on theleft or right lane beside another car and the car will still be there waiting to go when I join the roundabout and move on. people like that are annoying,

I find sometimes I even have to get into the other lane just to make progress because they're sitting there in caution waiting for the roundabout to be completely empty before moving off.

I saw a classic the other day.

An old Jaguar XJS, everytime she got to a roundabout, she indicated right and changed lane halfway round, then just as she's just about to pass the 2nd exit to go straight-on, she indicates left and pulls back in and takes the 2nd exit.

She did this on every single roundabout for the duration I was behind her (about 30 minutes, A10 during rush hour :( ), so it can't have been a mistake, she must have genuinely thought that's how roundabouts work...

I try not to stop at roundabouts, I try to roll forward if I can and go as soon as I can see a gap.

There's a roundabout on my home that is like the starting grid at Silverstone. The majority of people in the right lane to turn right use it to go straight on, the amount of times I've nearly let someone hit me as I refuse to let them sneak in is crazy. There's going to be a smash there one of these days.

You have to be soo quick off the mark these days to slot in to small gaps due to people booting it off the line.

maybe thats your problem? You're turning up to the rbout and dealing with the situation. Maybe approach a little slower, but still underpower and then you'll find it massively easier to merge in.

no dig, just a bit of advice...

Those people might be confusing that roundy with others in different towns as we have one in Gosport where the right lane is for going straight (2nd exit) or right (3rd) and the left lane is for 1st or 2nd exit which filters into a left only lane at the roundabout shortly after that one.

Position 1 where the arrow points is where you leave to exit Gosport (2nd exit, eg: my route to work), the left lane is only for going left (towards Rowner) yet people get in there and try to suddenly switch lanes to the 2nd lane (towards Fareham) just before the 2nd exit into the 2nd lane (almost been hit a few times in the past).

Now if you start from position 2 though the left lane is for going left OR right for Rowner/Fareham and the right lane is ONLY for going back into gosport so 2nd, 3rd or 4th exit only.

You can imagine what this section is like on a school day as the school is a few hundred feet behind position 2 and it’s madness (used to drop off and pick up my sister before).

2 simple roundabouts but quite complex routes for both if you’re not regularly driving through them!

lolz ferry. Then what do you do when you get to the good city? Other than gunwharf you got some walking/bussing ahead of you :D

Oh and what after 11:30 at night? Get the night ferry for £5?

Lulz at you sir, lulz.

I meant during peak hours :p off peak hours the roundabouts and roads are virtually empty because all the old people are too cold to be outside of their bungalows \m/

Reverse lulz!

I'm sure there is if people like you go around refusing to let people in, yes.
