I have the Virgin Media Superhub upstairs for wireless and an older Belkin router downstairs set in access point only mode and hard wired to the upstairs router.
The Virgin one does all the DHCP etc.

Currently they are both using different wireless names and keys so I have to connect specifically to either one.

Is it possible to set them up so they are seen as one so that a laptop or tabelt will auto connect to the strongest signal?

Someone suggested I need to name them both the same with the same wpa key too but want to double check before I start fiddling as I had problems last time I tried something similar.

Yes, give them the same name and WPA key. Also, for the best results with overlapping, spread the channels out. For example, router 1 uses channel 6, access point 1 uses channel 11.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts :)
I had wondered what to do about channels though so that clears that up!

I'll give it a go later and see how it performs.
