I have a sky router and a BT homehub I am using as an access point. Is there anyway I can get my laptop to connect automatically to each one as I walk from one end of the house to the other?

I go to one end of the house and the BT home hub is so weak I manually have to change to the sky one.

This is incredibly annoying for my parents who contsnalty moan they don't have a connection while mobile around the house.

Can I do something with the IP address of the devices?

The best you can do is set the SSIDs and the keys to the same thing, it's entirely up to the device to decide when it drops off one AP and connects to another.

Haven't you got a house wired for Cat6 and a server? Join the Unifi revolution.

Enterprise-ish grade wifi for cheap. The controller runs on Windows, Mac or Linux, and then all the APs act as one, so you don't need to login to loads of different APs to change security etc. Can have multiple SSIDs per AP with different VLANs, and the next release of the software (in Beta at the moment) has a feature to improve roaming handoff because each device will only ever see one AP so it doesn't even know it's roaming.

Each AP is about £55. Comes with a PoE injector so you don't need to worry about getting power to where you want to put each AP.

Nope, the one place I'm using UniFi is where I wouldn't want to go with beta software. I've heard it's stable though.

I'm in the same situation. I don't want to use beta software in a production environment.

I have got a spare Unifi AP that I'm testing at the moment (Outdoor+). I might have to get hold of a standard internal AP and have a play with the new software.
