.... without spending a fortune.

Do I have my work cut out for me? :D

Requirements:
802.11b/g (Although I could extend a Wired only router with an AP if this isnt possible)
NAT/Firewall etc etc etc

I am sure all of the regular features of a decent router will be included on anything which can Bandwidth throttle, preferbaly I would like to do it on a per MAC address basis.

Other than building a linux box, open to ideas :p

A Linksys WRT54GL will do it, but you'd need an ADSL modem to go with it if you were planning on using it on an ADSL service.

draytek 2800 series will do the job rightly, qos, b/width throttling, wireless, usual security, voice and data filtering etc.

I use the WRT54GL with DD-WRT installed and it does router based traffic prioritisation for me.

This way I can leave Azureus downloading as fast as it can manage without bringing web browsing to a halt.

My brother plays all sorts of MUD games where lag on a connection can have serious adverse effects to gaming. Before I had to stop Azureus so he could play it properly - now we have everything running at the same time as well as browsing and downloading updates and it all works smoothly without interfering with each other.

Also I used to previously have router crashes (not regular, but they happened every couple of days or so). Now that doesnt seem to happen. I am still using the same router to connect to the internet, but with the WRT54GL plugged into an ethernet port - but still no crashes. It does occasionally slow down, a reboot or just leaving it alone fixes those.

I just need to rearrange my network to get all my port forwards and stuff working now. Putting them through 2 routers is not doing them any good. Need go back to ethernet DSL modem with just the WRT54GL plugged in rather having it plugged into a Netgear ADSL modem + wireless router/switch as it is now.
