Hello everyone..

I've currently got a RANGEMAX™ NEXT WIRELESS N ADSL 2+ MODEM ROUTER - DG834N. It's working perfect and the internet is working fine. The only problem is the signal is not getting pushed far enough through the house and stops at around the kitchen area.

I have a second router which is a linksys WAG54GS. I hoped i could sit this near the kitchen allowing me to gain a bigger wireless coverage area.

Ive never done bridging before so ask if someone could direct me through the settings.

Below are my settings for my netgear (connected to telephone socket) and is working fine.

For the linksys im not very sure what options to select or what to enter.. I have two options for bridging

  • Bridging Mode Only
  • RFC 1483 Bridged

which MODE should I use?
do i enable dhcp on the second router?
If anyone could fill out the form with the correct information that would be ideal.

BRIDGE MODE ONLY

Thanks a lot!

Those options for bridging are for when you use the router just as a modem and 'bridge' it to another router, has nothing to do with wireless.

You need a wireless repeater or a cable joining the two... A wire would give better speeds as a repeater has to use the wifi bandwidth to link to the other router.

*EDIT* You also have 2 DHCP servers with different network addresses turned on (one on each router) you only need the one on.

Thanks for the response,

Just to clarify, the linksys does not support the wireless bridging idea I had in mind?

Unfortunatly i cannot get a cable to the kitchen area, its quite far away.
