Router Configuration.

I'm with TalkTalk and Ive used there modem since they sent it me but its USB and is ****ing annoying.

I have a netgear router bought maybe 1 and a half years ago which i always used AOL with and it was excellent. I think it's this;

Netgear DG834 ADSL Router

Im just wondering what the advantages of using a router is over a modem does it increase speed for instance?

Also im not 100% with how 2 set it up. On the Talktalk website it says the following;

VPI = 0
VCI = 38
DNS settings (primary) 62.24.199.13
DNS settings (secondary) 62.24.199.23
Authentication = CHAP
Encapsulation mode = PPP over ATM (PPPoA). VC-MUX

Is that all i have 2 do as when i plug it all on it seems 2 want me 2 manually type in all the ip's?

Plug it in, plug your PC into it, log on, click auto config, type TalkTalk user details. Done.

Yeah just either type in those settings, or as said above just do the automatic setup and it will do it for you, takes about 5 seconds, once you hit the automatic setup you will get an hour glass for about 5 seconds or so as it does it, then it will ask you for your username/password that you connect to your ISP with, stick em in click Apply and jobs done.
