Router help

Hello people, need some help choosing a router. I currently using a Dlink DIR-655 which has worked perfectly for a long time, but starting to be a bit more flakey lately, I currently use the router on BT infinity, and have multiple laptops and a Synology Nas connected, and my main pc. Need some advice which router would be a worthy replacement I have narrowed it down to

Asus RT-AC66U 802.11ac
or

Asus RT-N66U .

Would I see a better perfomance on my Lan and also wifi? or any other router anybody could recommend?

is there a perfomance diffrence? looking at something that is kind of future proof?

intresting, I have a access point set up at the moment as well, since i moved in to this new house which is quite big, and has solid walls. Some parts of the house I could not get a signal.

anybody own the Asus RT-AC66U 802.11ac or is it better to wait for the actual new standard to be offical
