Router/network question

Hey,

sorting out a computer for a friend.

They got a belkin router, they are connecting a laptop to it via ethernet. I connect the cable and it says its connected but no webpages load, neither does the router admin page.

Is there some setting i need to tweak in IE or w/e to make it select the internet from the lan.

hi there i just sorted this out myself today, there was a fire wall enabled on the ethernet connection, im noobie at these things my self.

i went to "my network places" n tryed to find the router, it then told me there was a firewall and asked if i wanted to disable it i just clicked yes and it worked :cool:

Anyone else got any things different that I might need to do.

Enter the Internet Service Providers settings on the Routers settings page which can be found at 192.168.2.1

One thing I sometimes find, in internet explorer go to options, connections, and then LAN settings, and check "automatically detect settings".

Cant even access that from the laptop.
