Router or Os problem ?

Right here's the deal every time i switch off the router or reset it when it come's back on i have no internet access and an unidentified networks shows up !?

I can only rectify the problem if i use windows 7 restore your pc function
diagnosis cant resolve either...

I use sky broadband 20mb using there standard Netgear router...

i think it's my Os as my partner on her lappy can access the net when this happens to my desktop

any clues ?

do you do ipconfig /renew in cmd ?

do you enable and disable the network connection, click on repair ?

you have to initiate client side ip address request. so it can get an ip from the router.

no i don't use the cmd at all repair or diagnose problems dont work only thing that "fixes" it is a restore point...

side note i just had to use restore because of windows update allso messing the desktop connection up

Probably a driver issue for your NIC. If its attached to your motherboard go get the latest drivers.

I had serious issues with mine when I upgraded to Vista so just went and bought a £10 PCI NIC which I knew was supported.
