Hi, I received a new laptop from uni a couple of days ago, and when i got it home it wouldn't connect to my wireless network for whatever reason. So in trying to figure it all out I ended up trying to reset the router. Doing this now means that whilst machines will connect to the network, the internet won't work.

It was so long ago when I first had the router that I can't figure out what settings are missing or whatever. I'm using the dd-wrt firmware if that makes any difference. I'm no networking guru but i'm guessing this screenshot from the status tab might be able to help with the problem?

Shouldn't that be showing addresses or not? I've tried hitting every button and ticking every box but to no avail. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? The internet works fine when I connect directly from the modem (hence me posting this).

once it's install, do a clear nv-ram, then set it up.

Administration->Configuration->Restore Default Configuration->Erase all data in NVRAM memory(thorough)->OK

tried resetting the modem?

they are very funny about giving out ip's to new devices without a reset.

bledd - he isnt using the standard firmware.

Yeh switched it off and on many times etc. Not sure if installing different firmware is going to make a difference is it? I just need to know what settings i'm missing i think

unplug modem and router power.

turn modem on and wait for all flashy lights to be ready.

turn on router and wait for all those flashy lights to be fine.

check that page again to see if it has an ip..

if not, click release, then renew a few times..... worked on my old one :D

got really fussy towards the end of 2 years of use
