Ok so the thing is my belkin router has suddenly stopped working wirelessly. I have got it all wired up but it still wont work. I've even tried re-installing all the software that cam with the router. The router model number is: F5D8236-4v2.

I usually find when I can see the router but cant connect, its my next door neighbour aimlessly changing his channel to the same as mine lol, go through this every few days at the min and its really starting to bug me changing my channel to something different
Either that or one of the kids has knocked my wireless video sender to a channel that interferes with my wireless signal.

Dave

Have you correctly set the E(SSID) and WEP or WAP password and are using the same channel numbers on each device?

Have you set the network type public or private in win 7?

Well I don't have kids. My neighbour is already using his own router so that can't be the problem. Any other suggestions?

Only thing I know is that this dial up connect thing keeps popping and says connect to my broadband. Since I amm quite a paranoid user I don't what to a this point.

I didnt say he was using your router, Have you actually tried changing your wireless channel to something different, it could be interference was what I was getting at, if your sure you have all your settings correct that is.

Dave.

Your dial up box that keeps popping up is probably coming up because your default connection (your router) is unavailable. Just ignore that.

Routers do not usually need software, you just address it with IE on 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and fill in all the details of your broadband account and then give the wireless network an SSID and select the channel and security you need.

Sorry if I'm telling you what you already know.

go to the ip as nkata said, you can log in to your router from there, if youve never done it before the userid and password are prob still admin and password, though google your router make to check

Well you would need to connect up to the router through a LAN cable if you havent already got one connected to the router , then go to the Router setup which is usually 192.169.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 like nkata said. Then it should have a wireless settings option somewhere and just alter the channel number in there.

Dave.

Beaten :p

same router as mine, type in 192.168.2.1 into internet browser, then click on channel and SSD under wireless

default password = blank

should see a list of these

Wireless Channel >
Extension Channel >
SSID > your routers name that gets shown when you look to connect
Wireless Mode >
Bandwidth >
Broadcast SSID >
Protected Mode >
802.11e/WMM QoS >

change the number of the wireless channel and extension to see if it changes at all.

for example, mine is channel 11 extension 7, but when i put it as channel 1 extesnion 7 nothing wireless can connect (its the same channel as nextdoor are using)

make sure to give it a reboot after to make sure the changes are made
