I have installed a Netgear DG834 router, I am currently on AOL and I am having some weird problems. If I log onto AOL, I can access www.overclockers.co.uk but if I go straight on to IE and go www.overclockers.co.uk it does do nothing, it just keep trying to load (little green bars at the bottom) edit: same with ebay and a few other sites.

Like I said everything work fine on AOL, i can load up OC on AOL and OC on IE at the same time but one will work and the other wont. What is going on?

I looked around IE settings, have proxy off and never dial a connection.

Im lost for ideas. Anyone?

Log in to the router and somewhere under ADSL settings or WAN settings (I don't have one handy so can't check) there wil be an option to set the MTU. Set that to 1400 and you should be up and running

MTU = maximum transmission unit, basically the largest size a packet of data can be (in bytes) leaving your router.

If your MTU is set too high then the packet of data you sent gets dropped or fragmented and strange stuff happens.

FYI: It is only AOL who seem to do this.

Yes and no. PPPoEoA (which no one really uses) introduces an extra overhead, so the recommendation is to drop the MTU (but not as far as 1400 IIRC).
VPN does it as well (Cisco client does it automatically :().

MTU at 1400 is the figure recommended by AOL Support. Dig around in their support FAQs enough and you'll find the details. (Along with the IMAP settings for configureing your email client so you can completely avoid that awful AOL interface) :)
