Im just trying to find out a slipstream way of running my network so I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Currently, I have an ethernet cable running from my router to the opposite end of my house into a switch, switch then feeds into my computer by ethernet.

The internet has been absolutely dreadful and with me gaming and my dad sending large files continually with the business, I think the router is like overloading with the 4/5 computers on it.

So my question is would it be pointless if I were to get another router and wire it between the switch and my computer or would it have to go into one of those ethernet sockets?

Any help is much appreciated Cheers

Is your dad just transferring files over the LAN or is it over the net/VPN? How fast is your net connection? Is your router 10/100 or gigabit?

Another Router would indeed be pointless yes as this is not their purpose.

If the file transfers are using the net then you will:

A) Need faster broadband
B) Implement some QoS to prioritise your gaming over file transfers.
