Rowing Machine

You may.

I train for primarily strength and mass. I use CV not only to help keep healthy, fit, drop body fat and make me feel alert but also to make this mass and strength functional.

The heart is a muscle and should be trained just as hard as any other. There's no point having big strong legs if your heart can't support supplying them with blood to move. It's all about balance but also proportioning.

I see.. Good point about the heart muscle, i agree. I trian for a sport, so no need for me to put on body mass as such because the weight i am is perfect for the weight group i compete in.. Kinda explains my need for good CV levels.

What a lot of people don't realise is that the Calves are almost as important in the re-oxygenation cycle as the heart. The two calf muscles combine to shoot the blood in the legs back to the heart for fresh oxygen.

Thus, given the workout rowing gives the calves as well as the heart, there really is little better a CV workout.

I dont agree all other rowing machines are carp, I have the
Horizon Oxford 2 CS Air Rower for the last 2 years and its an excellent piece of kit and very well made.

I read all the review etc and they were all excellent about that machine.

When I first started rowing, I'd get blisters on my fingers so wore random gym gloves, but they eventually hardened up :)

I sometimes get calusses on the creases of my fingers but I know thats because I use a fairly loose grip as the majority of power placement is coming from my legs so it doesn't need to be tight as I'm not really pulling.

Your hands will harden up. It's the beauty of being a man, embrace it.
