Im sure you have all had the "tried to deliver" tickets through you door when you have ordered a parcel and you were not there.

Well I got one this morning saying "48 hour until package is ready".

TOTAL waste of time them doing that. Iv had many many packages saying only have to wait a maxium of 6 hours until its ready, and thats packages that were attempted to be delivered around 1PM not at 7AM in the morning like the one I just got now.

For example.

If you think about it, if it was for someones birthday and you found the perfect gift but could only just get it delivered in time. That would mess up all your planning and left you without a gift on the the day of the party.

I dont see why it takes two days for them to get the package ready we only like about 500m from the damn depot. Lazy post man/woman probably sticks it back in the post to get to the depot.

Anyone else had a problem like this?

Put a dash between the 4 and the 8 and then go down to the depot.

They will go out of their way to get you your package, even as far as pulling them off the lorries and phoning the drivers.

It will probably be there already. I got a ticket last week which said 48 hours and it was there to pick up when I went the next day.

They say two days, but I think thats just to cover themselfves, I have collected stuff the same day loads of times

You sure it doesn't say "up to 48 hours"? They're probably just covering their backs.

Try the dash in between the 4 and 8 though, this counds fun! :D

Unlucky.

Most post man is a legend. He actually walks round the back and posts packages through the cat flap, or leaves them in the shed if I ask him to. I do give him quite a reasonable sum every xmas though!

It all depends on where you live I suppose.

Always been 48 hours for me. Think yourself lucky if you live 500m away, its a 45 minutes bus journey for me, then the same back.

Ive noticed recently that RM are not trying to deliver now. Last time i caught the guy just walk up to the door and put the card through, much to his horror when i opened the window and glared at him. He didnt even make an attempt to knock.

Royal Mail are rubbish, althoguh their delivery times are usually good, as they usually deliver between 7 and 9 here, unlike amtrak, city link etc which can be anything up till 5pm.

I got a package this morning was shocked when it arrived at 7:30AM was expecting about 10am with the regular post. I've never had wait 48 hours with RM but they once left a to be signed for parcel on my door step! Now it would have been nicked if my neighbour hadn't picked it up! Was quite an expensive item too a 1:72 RAF costal command B17 which cost 60 quid!

On the subject of that, is it expected to give your postman something at Christmas? I'm in a rented student flat and haven't really thought about doing it until now, but I probably should as I get a ton of stuff delivered via RM and they're usually pretty good about getting it to me. Wonder if they resent that I haven't left anything for the last couple years.

You do realise that they get paid to deliver the stuff? :p

Do you ever tip a cab driver or a waiter? I made over £350 in tips over the xmas season along with various bottles of plonk and choccies :D But then again .... I am the best postie I know ;) :p

I had a card shoved thorugh my box this morning, was lucky that whislt I was coming back home I saw postie in the area, so I jumped back in my car and chased him down the road, should have seen his face when I pulled up all wheels skidding and said you've got my package.

We've got two posties for our road, got a jolly old fellow who I stopped this morning for my package, and a really fit bird, who I wouldn't mind a crack at :D

I did the same a few weeks ago. I was outside my neighbours house working on the car, watched him walk up, post the card and carry on with his round. Went indoors to check the mail, sure enough "We tried to deliver"

Jumped in the car and belted up the road to catch him up. One very red-faced postman.

"I er, tried knocking for ages blah blah"

"No you didn't, I was stood outside watching you"

"Oh, well, here's your parcel"

Most of our posties are okay, but one or two are no good to man nor beast.
