I'm expecting a parcel in the next few days and it is being delievered via Royal Mail. I've got a reference number in an email to track the item...so I go to their site and enter the number in and it said....

"Recorded Signed For™ items are only tracked after the item has been delivered"



Just thought I'd share that bit of brilliant logic.

You always get this, I think its just to find out if its been delivered to another person or something, it is pretty pointless though.

It's recorded delivery, they record the fact it has been delivered - that is all.

Spend a bit more and use special delivery and you can get a trace of where it has been scanned (although - oddly, I don't think their new site shows it, the old one did and if you have the url it still works).
