royal mail left 2 parcels hidden in my front garden. no note telling me where they were. i found them a week later, so wet the packaging was falling off. luckily everything still worked. needless to say i was angry

Lol. Home delivery network, left my item outside my house as well from morning till I reached back home around 7pm. And they have the cheek to leave a card saying, " I hid it outside your house ", Like wtf??? What if its gone??

I agree but I still think the person in question should have to leave some form of I.D with you so that the Royal Mail at least know they have the right address.

Otherwise we could end up with parcels god knows where. ;)

Royal Mail should know they are at the right address by knowing where they are, and what it says on the package ;). Me and my boyfriend both had to renew our passports this summer, and they were sent back to our respective parents, as we have problems with delivery here. While waiting on the new passports, which although sent out special delivery for security, can take over a month, my boyfriend had no ID, and I only had my drivers licence. There is no way I'd be handing over my drivers licence to my dad 25 miles away for a month or more, just to recieve one package.

I have a friend who's a postman and he advises to send anything via Special Delivery if you actually want it to get there!

No guarantee it will get there in one piece though

It's nowhere near ideal but it's all I can really think of.

Whilst it does say on the package, clearly for people like Lolcb's mailman it's not enough. :)

i always have problems with city link tbh. a smashed camera and wrong address twice. also wouldnt accept my driving licence as id untill the new person got a manager wich took 20 mins+

I bought a PDA off of members market. It was sent special delivery.

It has been delivered this morning, and in the South East Bristol area but who knows where exactly? Not to me or my neighbours! No idea who signed for it either!

I bought a phone of the bay and it got delivered and signed for by someone at the same house number in a completely different road. It was lucky that the guy relised it and bought it round, it would have been a mess sorting it out if it hadn't arrived.

well, what a topic, i need to vent some anger at Parceline, on the 3rd April, my package was In the National Hub in Coventry , somehow it was able to fly to Paris and be returned with 24hours to Coventry , but its taken it further 7 days to come from Coventry to Belfast, of which i wont be able to lift it untill 4.30 this afternoon.

How nice.

Grr Royal Mail. We've had our share of posties who last about a month before they get fired:

One threw potted flowers over the fence when no one was in, another signed stuff himself using the name on the address. Another mad one left the notes that nobody was in but never tried the knocker or bell (no car == no people mentality).

The best one was the guy who thought it best not to bother trying the doorbell but instead putting packages in the recycle bin for us to find. Took me a couple of failed [competitor] orders to realise what was going on. Madness.

I thought my 'spidey sense' was tingling and a Royal Mail thread was on the burn. :D

Trouble is I'm too tired to get involved as I've only recently got back from a long, but productive morning delivering the post and hiding parcels from customers (the more inventive the hiding place the better). I had a number of Recorded Deliveries to make up funny signatures for, and then rifled through my latest collection of 'Special Deliveries' to see if there was anything good in 'em. I got some concert tickets, some computer hardware and a nice mobile phone. Result!

So what have I missed in this thread then? :p

Well, I'm awaiting a package from parcelforce ( same company as Royal Mail ).
Lets see if they actually send the package before the cut off time - 5 pm.

Royal Mail in my area are rubbish, I get mail for people with the same house number for streets all around the area, how much of my mail goes missing the same way is something I wonder about a fair bit.

My Postman sometimes signs for things for us.

But I live in rurual location so its kinda like Postman Pat where you can really trust the postman.

Same as unless it wont fit through the P Box
