Royal Mail.

When no-one was in the house, Royal Mail put the parcel in the rubbish bin.. yes the rubbish bin and left a note saying he left it there, and another time shoved it through the toilet window next to the door.. and what was in the parcel.. an external hard drive.. :@ Ran a full check on the drive with HD Tune which took over 12 hours, but came out green.. hopefully there's no other problem that might creep up later because of it..

i've been having the exact opposite experiences atm, i've been posting stuff 2nd class to be received the very next morning, the last 10 parcels over the summer have all been very fast.

if you work for these idiots, then why has everything changed from the late 80's to mid 90's?

i can remember the postman arriving no later then 8am, thats monday to saturday, week in, week out
sorry, not bitching at you specifically, but royal mail is mud in my eyes, i've had trashed parcels from them, late packages, sorting office collections ( postman not smart enough to knock at a door? ( i dont have a doorbell )
somethings gotta be done, just hope it happens and sticks this time.

That was when they had two daily deliveries and now there is only one (has been for years) so i don't even get out of bed until 8am for a 9am start (start delivering mail at 10.15am at earliest sometimes after 11am if i have to wait for transport) so there is no chance of a delivery that early unless it is a special delivery that the driver is going to take out because the postman will not make it for 1pm.

I have people moaning at me often because they ask why i didn't knock or ring the bell and just put a card through and i've never done that when the fact is i did knock more than once and they didn't hear it.

I had one old person come out to me the other day and say "i've just got this card through could you knock have knocked the door?", i said i did twice and he says "you couldn't have i would have heard it" then somebody in the next room pipes up with "yeah i heard him ok", the old idiot was just half deaf

There is no point in me just writing out a card (takes more time than handing over a parcel) and sticking it through and carrying the packet with me on top of the rest of the massive amounts of mail that i continue to pick up (four bags on my run).

And for late parcels that's just a normal thing at my branch since there we are so understaffed it's simply not possible for them to always be delivered on time so they are delayed quite often.

royal mail are trash now, i've been waiting for something posted from manchester first class recorded for two days now, and nothing, our postie never arrives before lunchtime ( more often then not, it's 2-3pm) the service is tush, and they rip you off for the priviledge, unless you have no other choice, i'd avoid RM like the plague

If it's always 2-3pm then that would suggest that you are at the end of the postal round, sounds about right...seems people think they should be the first person that gets any mail in the morning and don't think about how it actually works and that there might be 550 people getting mail before them.

Im writing this from the Royal Mail Callers office I work in. All offices are understaffed because of the 'efficiency' drives that have been going on for years. We where 9 full time staff down at the beginning of the year and we where not allowed to hire anyone at all, just struggle on and have to cover 9 walks extra every day. Now the business is only allowing the hiring of part time staff to keep wages down. Now that means the full time staff have to prep the part timers walks so even less is sorted so it means later deliveries.

Last year (maybe the previous year) our starts where changed from 5am to 6 am so even later delivery times for customers. It is regretful that posties think to get there work done they do half a job and not try to deliver items. I would much rather hand the item out than spend the time waiting for the person to answer and then write the card out and carry the item arround for the next few hours.

If anyone thinks that privitising RM will be a good thing is sorly mistaken. Getting some management who care instead of lining there own pockets (PM made 2 milion in proffits one year so how much did our fat cat boss take as his bonus??? )and having the government take the handcuffs off so that RM can compete fairly is what RM needs not more 'efficiency' cuts.

Is it me or have royal mail really gone down hill. I order my logitech g500 wednesday first class. It got dispatched thursday at 9am. I didnt get it today so i went into the sorting office. They guy said it hasnt even arrived yet. one to two buisness days 1st class delivery is. If its not in the sorting office now. I will no doubt get it monday. I doubt i will use royal mail again. They are unreliable.

Whilst people do have problems receiving stuff via Royal Mail I fail to see the issue in the OP's example.

One to two business days for first class post and you hadn't received it after one day (the Friday). The next business day is Monday so if you receive it then it will still be "on time" ... nothing "unreliable" about that at all ...

Ordered a couple of things over the last couple of weeks that were delivered by Royal Mail from ocuk's free delivery.

Hard Drive ordered Thurday 3pm, arrived Friday 10am.

MX-3 TIM ordered Thursday 7pm, arrived Saturday 9.30am.

So a good result.

Misconseption No1 1st class delivery DOES NOT mean GUARANTEED next day delivery! Much as it grates me to say it, however the only service I believe that guarantees is Next day special delivery. I concur also with my fellow workers, the service is going down the pan rapid due to a) getting reamed left right and centre by a regulator hell bent on allowing all and sundry to cherry pick all the best bits of our business. B) Management who have been put in place to slim down the business and make it profitable ready to sell off. Only one winner here folks :(

If you think it's bad now imagine what it will be like if the Tories privatise it as proposed.
Can you imagine people out in the sticks like me or at remote farms etc.getting any post at all or maybe once a week as at present one bloke comes round in a van & we get our post about 2.o clock usually

Just went downstairs to pick up yet another package that my postman has left under the door mat

Give them an inch and they take a yard. I'm going to have to put in a complaint - actually let me do that now :D

Its 10:48am and im still waiting lol. I just want my mouse lol.

I want my new sound card!

Luckily my office is at the front of the house and I have quite a long drive. Been listening for the crunching of feet on gravel all morning so I can go an commandeer the postie.

Alas, no crunching of feet yet. :(

It came wohoo. Logitech g500 has a nice feel too it. Abit heavy than what i am use to my deathadder. Overall i think i can get use to it.
