Divinity Original Sin 2 is way way better than Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 which are both bogged down by stats and lacklustre combat.

I'm tempted by Divinity, but how's the combat? I'm not a great fan of turn based, however if the story is great then it might compensate.

It's very story driven to the point of that proper old school D & D feel, turn based takes some getting used to but with how the combat works it doesn't feel slow or boring.

Yeah its a pretty good implementation and combat is good fun, even though its turn based. I much preferred it to Pillars, seemed to have more "soul" and is more fun.

Neverwinter Nights (looks more dated to me than isometric games that came before it) has the Enhanced Edition now, worth playing with expansions if not done so already.
Neverwinter Nights 2 and expansions worth playing too
