RPG's - suggestions?

If you liked Mass Effect, then maybe DeadSpace?

It's primarily an FPS, but with a few RPG features like upgrade trees and whatnot - think Bioshock-eqsue RPG-ness :)

Actually it's a third person adventure game more akin to Resident Evil with stats than Bioshock not FPS.. :)

Why do people live oblivion? ITs a terribly shallow and repetitive game. When i got it i was like OMG WOW then after a lil while i relised so many flaws in it. The idea of scaled leveling is rediculas. It should have been made more like morrow wind.

However with a lot of mods (9gb) oblivion becomes very playerble but still, i dont get why so many people recomend it. Its not what it could have been.

I prefer light rpgs, not too heavy with levelling details and classes and potions and all that stuff. Imo Dungeon siege was perfect its levelling system builds up your skills with it depending on what your using all the time. Loved it.

If you want a game similar to KOTOR, try Jade Empire. It basically IS KOTOR set in a fantasy version of medieval China. The combat's a bit different, being more "actiony" that KOTOR, but it uses the same engine and the same party, ship and morality concepts. It's a decent story, pretty good RPG action and, if you get used to the combat (which I did after a little while), very good fun. Oh - John Cleese is in it, too! :)

I also found Spellforce 2 quite a diverting "light" RPG. It's kind of a mix of RPG and RTS. Whilst neither aspect of the game stands up to the best of their respective genres (by some way), each part is fairly decent, and the combination of them is novel and keeps the game fresh for much of its (quite lengthy) play-time.

Cannot empahasis Baldurs Gate Saga enough! I've playing again at the moment, hasnt lost any of its charm, and the graphics are good in a way, its the sort of game that ages really well, i miss pre-rendered sprites and backgrounds! The strategic combat will never get old, I can only hope that Dragon Age gets some of this back.

GET IT. Kotor is childs play compared to Baldurs Gate. Get Planescape Torment and Icewind Dale also :)

There is also mod available called the Big World Project, which fuses all the games into one massive game using the TOB engine, as well as encompassing almost every single mod worth having.

A great utility (BWSETUP) has just been released which now downloads all the mods for you, which takes all the work out, you can pretty much just leave it on over night :) The install will take around 10 hours or something hehe.

Im not really sure if post apololyptic is your bag... but +1 for Fallout 3. Its like obvlivion, but killing things is actually fun!

Gothic 3 is an awesome game with the community patch that was released not long ago. Do a search for it on these forums and you'll find a thread all about it.

It's a much better game than oblivion in my opinion

Planescape: Torment is my favourite game ever. I can't recommend it enough.

Playing it through again at the moment, with the high-res patch. Awesome.

Another vote for Fallout3 if you've not already got it - It's a refreshing change from Oblivion which I played to death but I don't think it's got the longevity of Oblivion...
