Just had my quote through on a new Audi RS3 and it’s £4690 a year. Thats with full no claims, no claims convictions etc and I’m not a young driver lol

Is this about right for a new RS3 priced at £64k ? I was expecting it to be half that.

Audi RS cars tend to be quite expensive to insure and some insurers won't touch them - I was quoted £4446 on an RS4 some years ago.

I was going to just change car on my current insurance but they wouldn't touch it, they (AA) got me a quote from another on condition of having a tracker and that was the price :(

Have you used the compare insurance websites? My BMW Series 2 GC M235i came out at £4800 to renew at Lloyd's, shopped around and got it for £419..

See if you can look at local insurance brokers, I've heard of good experiences with them lately from friends with similar cars. I know of people getting sometimes around 20% cheaper quotes than comparison sites.

I'm going to be trying one next when my renewal comes round, other than that Admiral have always been cheapest for me, paid £800 for my TT-RS at 22 with 5 year NCB, mods declared too.

Wow, thats absurd.

Half expected given that:

1. New car - newer complicated tech that is more expensive to repair in event of accident
2. Linked to above, stolen so it can be broken down for parts and sold to smaller garages or people who don't really care where the part comes from and just want their motor fixed without paying main dealer prices. Difficult to track down if a headlight unit is stolen
2. Its a 4WD hot hatch. Organised crime gangs love them. Stick some false plates on there and you have a absolute weapon of a vehicle that will outrun virtually anything and doesn't require massive driver skill to do it. If its a five door version then even better, as you can get your mates in an out quickly when out robbing the jewellers

But as suggested, hit some brokers (Like Adrian Flux and Sterling Insurance) and the price comparison sites (do all of them to get good coverage of all possible insurers). Set aside half a day and it should be financially worth the effort.

This is ridiculous, or you leave in the ghetto.

Out of pure interest, I ran a quote for myself on Compare the Market with general usual terms, 40y0, parked on drive, 10k a year, SDCP, 12years NCB, totally clean licence and £250 excess... Best price is just shy of £1k via Santander with a total of £550 excess.

I insure the Lotus and my A6 bitdi for less than that! But it's still a mile better than your quote! The most expensive came in at £5,313 with £1050 excess! From a company I've never heard of "acover".

I suspect the difference is where I live...but you're in Pembrokeshire, so I cannot imagine there are huge car theft statistics all the way out there??

Anyway, don't do it, silly money to spend.

Who the hell can afford that insurance cost, absolutely bonkers money to drive an Audi RS3 around. What's the point, might as well get a little run around
Considering the number of high-end/performance cars the police seize these days for no insurance, it seems like plenty of people just chance it.

Also interested, Admiral quoted me £33 to change from my m550i to a 2022 rs3 for the remaining 11.5 months of my policy, so pro rata about 860 quid?

Meanwhile my wife's model Y performance is £1050, so look on the bright side :p

That’s truly insane. My car cost about that!

I guess these newer cars are quite easy to steal unfortunately. And probably targeted specifically because they are so fast. You would have to REALLY want one to spend that sort of cash on insurance.

What did you buy instead?

I wasn't buying, could have had the use of one for a year while the owner was working abroad, but not at that price LOL.

The Audi RS line have been silly money to insure for years nothing new in this case. I was quoted a similar price getting on for 20 years ago now.
