Has anyone used thes for offsite back ups? or know of anything similar?

Or would i need a offsite back up, if im backing up my data locally and to tape?

http://www.bqbackup.com/ is known for a good service.

I used to use them when i ran a busy site but don't really have the need anymore

Yes, what happens if the local backups get taken out? We use JungleDisk which stores everything on Amazon S3.

I think rsync.net rents storage space from BQ Backup, so you may as well go straight to the source.

Used BQ Backup for about 3 years when I was doing hosting and it never failed me one thankfully and saved my backside on more than one occasion.

Using it now to keep photos etc safe from home!

Backups using Rsync is the best method. You can configure automated backups using Rsync.
