RTS games similar to Command & Conquer?!

Are there any real time strategy games around nowadays that are similar to Command & Conquer (& Red Alert) or similar?

Found myself hankering for some RTS vibes like C&C lately to play on the XBOX but absolutely no idea if there is anything out there? Open to PC games but prefer something for XBOX One. Don't really hear anything from the C&C franchise anymore and not come across anything that looks of a similar ilk to it for console.
 
I would love more RTS on console. Especially if they offered mouse keyboard support. With being able to use hand gestures,trackbpads and phones as well its a shame we are not seeing more.

Also give me football manager on console again.
 
Only literally just clocked a trailer for Halo Wars 2 which looks as though it's an RTS. Not sure if it has much of a single player campaign mode to it as it looks more geared towards fast amd furious online multiplayer.

I prefer the old school type where you start off with a one building base then have to use units to harvest resources to build more buildings and then you can upgrade them etc. Very much like C&C and Age of Empires. Wonder why there hasn't been a C&C game on next gen hardware, could be amazing!

TA and Supreme Commander are both excellent and worth a look. Both have sequels but neither are as good as the originals imo.

Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 1/2 for some old and new!

Homeworld 2 is also worth a look - I believe it was remastered recently.
 
Warcraft aswell! Can't believe I forgot that game, spent MANY hours on the Warcraft series as a young 'en!

Why on Earth are RTS games so under-represented on consoles atm? I've got a PC so could play some of these on there but I'd rather not have to lock myself away in my spare room on the PC if i'm honest! Prefer it when I can just sit on the couch downstairs and fire a game up!
 
Think the battle for middle earth series appeared on the 360. Maybe there's a back compatibility request in for that.

I remember around that time seeing an article from a Microsoft honcho proclaiming that console players just weren't interested in rts.

While that generally probably is the case, it peaked me at the time as the original c&c and more so RedAlert were two of my favourite playstation releases, and both top sellers.

Exactly I can't understand why they would think that. If they brought a new C&C Tiberium Wars or Red Alert out i'm sure it would be a top seller. Nothing came close to those games imo!

I hope there is some truth in the rumours that MS might be working on a new Age of Empires. Used to waste many hours playing that in my youth chopping trees down and killing boars for meat, haha!
