What are the best RTS games around? Ive only played C+C red alert 2 and Generals....

The most recent I've played was LOTR Battle for Middle-earth II.
The reviews were good & I'd recommend it, esp if you're a LOTR fan.

Get the Zero Hour expansion for Generals if you haven't already. It greatly improves the game

Redalert 1 , its much more fast paced than 2 and generals.

Starcraft, ive recently started playing this and its fast paced, great gameplay and music

All the RTS games now a days seem to be all about nice 3d graphics and less about the gameplay and sound. Very sluggish IMO.

Company of Heroes defeats your sweeping generalisation of all RTS games today.
