Which would you choose? Playing @ 1440p.

Only really play Fortnite. My current RX6500XT actually play pretty well @ 1440p on Maximum Epic settings but with shadows disabled, averaging around 60FPS

Looking at Youtube videos both will play the game maxxed out inc full shadows at least 20 - 30FPS faster than my current card. The 2060 is about 10FPS faster than the 3050, however although the 3050 a bit slower the 3050 uses less power. With energy prices being what they are every little helps.

Pricing wise from ocuk the 2060 is around £20 more expensive than the 3050.

Can the 2060 do DLSS?

Which should i get?

I guess if i could get £130 ish for my 6500XT i could maybe stretch to the cheapest 3060 on ocuk

6600 is a decent bit better than both the 3050 and 2060 for about the same money.

If you only really play fornite why not turn down the settings from max epic settings like many do,
.
Can you enable rsr in the AMD software and then set the display ingame to 1080p and get better performance?

The 2060 can do DLSS. Personally I would wait to see if the better quality 3050s come down in price over the next few weeks (if you do decide to change the card).

If you want RT and DLSS, the 2060 is better than all options, but the 6600 - 6600-XT are much better for normal usage.

there not better value there better cards then there direct cost comparison

These framerates are based on Fortnite at 1080p

6500XT - AVG 63 FPS - £169.99 ⁒ 63 = £2.69 per frame
3050 - AVG 85 FPS - £289.99 ⁒ 85 = £3.41 per frame
6600 - AVG 97 FPS - £319.99 ⁒ 97 = £3.29 per frame
3060 - AVG 100 FPS - £389.99 ⁒ 100 = £3.89 per frame
2060 - AVG 93 FPS - £329.99 ⁒ 93 = £3.54 per frame

The AMD cards are all cheaper per frame and therefore better VALUE than Nvidia. The 6500XT is the best value GPU on the market by far (contrary to what everyone said). The 6600 comes 2nd and the 6600 XT is 3rd.

Although if you want RT then the 2060 is better like Tired9 said. I'm basing it on raw performance.

I think I recommended the 6600 and 6600 XT in my first post. It's not just about value for money. The AMD cards have a good compromise between performance and value. Nvidia are just overpriced like they always have been (unless you're lucky and get an FE).

tbf at 1440 max setting is the 6600 good enough? I don’t play that game but I know the games I do play at 1440 my 6600xt only hit 60/70 fps

If you pay full price for games on release day then the 6600 isn't really good enough for 1440p max. I buy games when they're a couple of years old for less then half price. The 6600 is okay for games that are a couple years old (I'll be playing this year's games in a couple years time.)

This way I can be a budget gamer but use the same settings as a mid/high end gamer.

Turning down settings gives free fps, can reduce lag as well as preventing the need to buy a new gpu. Many people do it, eg over 300k views on advice how to do it from this video alone,

Often there is little difference in turning down at least some settings in games from ultra to high or medium, over 1.7m people looked at this video on the issue, Gaming at Max Settings is Really Dumb - YouTube

The 6600 isn't sold by AMD as 1440p max settings card, so just turn down some of the settings.

Thanks for the replies i think i will just stick with the 6500XT

Would it be worth swapping to a B550 or cheap X570 board to get PCI-E 4?

Its certainly not worth paying £150+ for a new x570 to use with a 6500XT.

However, there's refurbished B550 boards selling for as little as £45. So if you can get £30 for your current motherboard then it's worth adding £20 or maybe a little more for the benefits that B550 gives you.

According to this video there is little difference between pcie3 & 4 on the 6500xt in fornite so you might not see any difference if you upgrade your MB. (Obviously if the video is correct)

You should be able to get decent fps by turning down the settings. So I wouldn't buy a new MB, rather put the money aside and if you want to upgrade buy another gpu when prices settle. I know that the laptop intel GPU isn't looking good at the moment, but they aren't using much power. You could wait (might be awhile) to see how the intel desktop gpu performs in fornite, as hopefully they will be priced well and perform in a game like fornite as it is so popular. If the intel gpu it isn't very good then you can decide if your still not happy with your performance and want to move up to a 6600 or if you have been happy using lower settings

The main differences will be fps minimums and average rather than max end. If you can get a cheap B550 then it could be worthwhile (and maybe check the 5600 reviews as well)

If I recall correctly, the 6500 XT is somewhere between a RX 580 and RX 590 in a PCI-E 4.0 board, but in a PCI-E 3.0 board it is around a RX 570, but sometimes as slow as a GTX 1650. But, as ASMB said, some games just don't care and in other games you can mitigate it. Playing at 1440p is going to make that more difficult I'd imagine.
