OCUK is currently listing Suprem X RTX 3080 @ £1200 and 3090 @ £2600
the cheapest none factory OC 3090 ie similar to FE performance is priced at £1900. That’s a £500 mark up or 37% markup.
the cheapest none OC 3080 is £950 and that’s a staggering 50% markup over FE models.
the cheapest 3070 model is £720 where other places sell for £500/£520. And again 50% up on FE model. That’s a mammoth markup again.
Shocking behaviour tbh.
scalpers takes stock at retailer and rips off public. What chance do we have when retail is able to scalpe at distributor.

You paid £70 for a 1050ti is now a good bargain, new 1050ti cost £200.
Still have a 970 and will sell it if I still have the box.
Sold my 1080ti for £400+ and 1060 for £200+ recently. The gpu market is even more crazier than last time.
At the moment, for the first time ever, if someone was asking for advice on building a gaming PC I'd advise them not to and just to get a gaming laptop or even a console. Having said that I have spotted a few pre-built desktops with decent GPUs that don't seem too extortionate.
It is getting silly now. If you shop around, there are actually decent enough prices on desktops with 1660 supers in that are the same or less than what some are wanting for just a used 2070/2070s.
If it is for gaming, you are far better off just buying a pre built machine right now so you dont get absolutely taken to the cleaners on the GPU.

I told my mate who picked up a 6800XT for £700 that he could likely sell it for double. He didn't believe me.

Distributers are getting scalped as well. I work for a computer store and believe me, places like OCUK are paying big money for GPU stock. The FE cards are cheaper than what suppliers sell them for.
Retailers are scalping old stock they have lying around such as an old 2060, 1050ti etc and I don't blame them. But new GPUs like the 3080 are getting scalped way down the chain somewhere.

I get it, distributors will also want a cut in this. But doesn’t explain why some shops able to sell at a price close to MSRP and OCUK seems to want to jack up prices by upto 50% across the board on their GPU range. By far OCUK is the most expensive in this land and basically on par with any market place scalping prices and some times more. Rtx 3090 for £2600. I mean even scalpers aren’t that audacious.
that is not even GPU, same thing with anything that is scarce atm such as CPU and PSU.
found the OCUK Limited filing now - nice profit margin.
