Hi all. I’ve currently got a prebuilt HP computer with a GTX1050ti, my system has only got a low watt power supply,So I only can choose from graphics cards which don’t require 8/6 pin power consumption. My question is will the RTX3050 be a worth while upgrade over my current GPU?
Thanks

It's a huge upgrade, although it's still only really a 1080P capable card (so if you have a higher resolution monitor you'll still likely struggle depending on what games you play)

Thanks for your reply and that chart. I wasn’t expecting it to be above GTX1660 super in performance. Just another question. Will my i5 6500 cpu be a bottleneck for that GPU?
Plus I’ve only play at 1080p

Worth noting that the rtx 3050 6gb is significantly slower than the 8gb variant (it's not just the memory that's cut down, the actual computing power is lower too). It's quite deceptive naming from Nvidia, so just be aware of that.

The 6gb model will still be quite a lot faster than that 1050Ti, but around 15-20% slower than the 8gb model depending on the game.

I think it's still the fastest gpu that doesn't need an extra power connector though.

Am I right in thinking the 6gb model is 70watt? And doesn’t require additional power

Do check the specific model you buy though, the 1650 was supposed to be slot power only and some of them still have a power connector.

ZOTAC GAMING GEFORCE RTX 3050 6GB SOLO GDDR6 Graphics Card

According to the specifications it’s 70w

On their website they specifically say it is bus powered (though you can double check the model number matches). That said, on the rear of the PCB I believe they have reserved space for a 6-pin power connector.

the 3050 6gb is not the same as the full fat 3050 8gb
the 3050 6gb is approx a 1060 6gb in performance, which is still ~50% increase from a 1050ti
whereas the full fat 3050 performs more like a 1070

that list needs to say that it's the 3050 8gb that's tier M, the cut down 3050 6gb is vastly inferior and belongs in tier o

I only play at 1080p and the 50% performance increase will be noticeable for me.
