RTX 3070-NVIDIA quietly changes the launch date to October 29th

My theory, is that board partners have been using pretty much all their factory resources to fulfil 3080/3090 orders, so have not been able to make enough 3070's for the original launch window. Either that, or NVidia is waiting for the Navi's launch price to potentially undercut it with a 3070 price cut. The latter being a pretty scummy move if true. But I genuinely don't think NVidia are too worried about their market share, so it's more likely to be the former. I guess we'll find out at the end of the month!

It could be NVidia directed partners to focus on 3080/3090's or they reached an arrangement between them. Either way, the timing is slightly suspicious. Think about it, if you don't want the customer cancelling their order after the Big Navi announcement because they haven't received their card yet, then best try and get as many orders fulfilled as possible beforehand.

Notice it's at 1440p. At 4K the 3070 will fall 10% behind I reckon, and counting RTX probably even further. A decent price but I feel like the 3080 is still a much better deal. Well, if you could buy one anyway. :D

Well if the 3070 manages to keep up or slightly outpace the 2080ti the second hand price for the 2080ti are doomed. Think if u going sell better do it before the 3070 release

That's what it looks like so far. I suspect the 2080 Ti will still beat it especially in 4K. Will definitely need to keep an eye out on proper reviews.

I was waiting for either RDNA2 or this 3070 so this delay doesn't bother me too much.

Possibly, but if you're bothered about 4K you would go 3080 anyway / AMD offering depending on how they perform.

Why? Surely if they are worried about AMD they would release sooner to cream the sales. I think it is more likely price and where it sits against AMD.

Hehe.. just fooling around

But denying data to AMD for benchmarking purposes at the time of Navi launch is a good tactic too.. the 3070 will anyhow be available long before the Radeon equivalent.. product positioning is a bit nebulous with all those suffixes.

Or it might be nothing, some supply chain issues

Scenario: AMD announce new cards, have no stock in the short term but 3070 is available the day after with comparable performance. Good move by Nvidia?

AMD moving their Oct 28 announcement forward by 2 weeks to capitalise on the 3070 delay would be great :D

My god this would make me so happy :D you can see it now nvidia panic and try to sell and yet again no cards in peoples hands meanwhile amd fills everyones pockets with gpus.

This is actually quite interesting based on the information that has been leaked over the past few days.

The YouTube leakers - who are not 100% reliable of course - have shifted a bit over the past few days suggesting RDNA2 Big Navi could beat 3080 and get close to the 3090 - whereas before they were very wary of suggesting RNDA2 would beat the 3080. I wonder if Nvidia are waiting to see what AMD offer before unleashing the 3070 and maybe even adjusting accordingly (probably on price)?

There is no chance 3070 will beat 2080ti. Maybe with DLSS or Ray Tracing.
DOnt get fooled by Nvidia again.

Yes 3070 will beat 2080 Ti in majority of games, sometime 3070 will match 2080 Ti in some games and 2080 Ti will able to beat 3070 in few games at stock or OC.

This is nothing new, it been going on since Kepler, Maxwell, Pascal, Turing and now Ampere.
