Hi.

I'm getting a 5090 soon and I was checking the models I like the most between the ones that show up every now and then.

So far I'll decide for one of this two:

- MSI 5090 Suprim Liquid SOC. The fact of throwing out of the case up to 600w of heat from the GPU is a good thing. It's quiet and temps are very good both Vram and GPU. Not so good is the pump and how will last.

- Asus 5090 Astral OC. It does throw the heat inside the case. I can try to change the fans set-up to minigate a bit this issue.
Good feature is the fact of letting you know something's bad with the power cable, It uses PTM7950 as thermal compound which is great and being an Air cooled card the temps seem to be good.
The Astral LC version is way more expensive and hard to find.

Which one do you think it's better? Or which one will you chose?

What case are you usiing? Suprim LC is a great card, but the rad is quite big and if you already have a CPU AIO having to sets of tubing can be a bit ugly.

To be honest I wouldn't choose either of those until the prices and supply normalise. There are people who got orders in on Suprims on launch day who are still in queues. The Astral seems to go for up to 50% over an already eye-watering MSRP, and stock is still dreadful.

It seems like we're a long way off having the luxury of choosing an AIB if you really want a 5090.

I’ve never liked AIO’s on a GPU but that’s just me. I would have the Astral.

Thank you for answering.

My case is Fractal Meshify 2 XL. It can fit 2x 420mm radiators. I have installed a Arctic Freezer II 420 at the top and I can install a second radiator at the front up to 420mm. For size of radiator and case it's not problem.

The AIO from Arctic is been with me for 4 years without any problem. I don't know how is the quality of the MSI for the GPU.

I will buy now the 5090 cause I made the mistake of selling the 4090. I knew the 5090 launch will be a bad one. But I never thought it was going to be the worst one I ever seen and I have seen a lot (I'm 48).

The PCB of this Asus is better as I have seen Builzoid's video about it. It's not a de breaker cause all the 5090 are power limit anyways.

Both have pros and cons. If I decide thinking in technical terms the Astral is a winner. Thinking in practically the Suprim Liquid throwing the heat out the case and it will have better temps.
Reability with Astral it should be good as it's air cooled and Asus is good "normally". MSI is ok as well but I never had a pump in the GPU.

If anyone had a liquid cooled 4090 to see how it lasts will be good.

Liquid cooled GPU and air cooled CPU if it's a 5090/9800x3d combo imho.

You'll never find either at a sensible price though if you find them at all.

£3000 on a GPU.

You're part of the problem.
No one asked your thoughts about what another person can spend with his money. I wonder why so many times when someone disagree with you the insult is the way to response.

Anyways, I'm not a problem. I'm not wealthy but I'm fine financially.

If it makes you happy decide for me which GPU do you want me to buy.

Jeezz

I think I would go for a GT 1030 ... It'll do exactly the same job and display an output from your computer onto a monitor

Forgive me if I've got the requirements wrong ;)

I think the biggest problem you’re going to have is availability. While stock is still severely limited auto buyers will be hoovering them up and as you aren’t in a pre-order queue it’s going to be a while I feel till you’re able to get one. Both you mentioned look like great cards but you need a fair bit of space in your case IMO to fit an AIO GPU in and for it to not look mega cramped.

I'm in the waiting list of a few models for some time and 4 of them are very close to ship (they will confirm first).

I did 4 cause no one knew which ones will be getting stock and have a faster queue. MSI 5090 Trio wasn't in my list but this model is the one there were more units shipping.

The closest models in the list to be shipped are:
1) Suprim Liquid (probably tomorrow).
2) Astral OC (almost 100% this week).
3) Gigabyte Aorus Master (in a couple weeks aprox). I cancelled from this list as I'm not a fan of Metal Grease (it's not Liquid Metal, no one know what is it exactly and its longevity).
4) Astral LC (no ETA yet). This is my favorite but the queue barely moves.

That's why from these 4 models I reduce to 2 as shipping is almost ready.

I rather decide now cause this GPU are not things you can test and then return easily.

The looks of my case don't matter as much as performance. I agree 2x 420mm radiadors might not look the best but having 500-600w of hot air from the Astral going inside the case might warm too much the rest of components.
The Suprim Liquid will be good for this. The Astral gives me more reability being Asus and the feature of power cables input check.

Anyone had a 4090 Suprim Liquid to see how did it go with the pump and longevity?

Gotta remember that some of us (me included) are buying these for business and do zero gaming.
I don't like paying overs on these but, I get the VAT back and it goes down as a business expense - plus I should get video work done faster and smoother now the 5090 has new H264 encoders/decoders.
My 5090 should be coming tomorrow and while I had to pay £2700 for it, just me getting the VAT back means I only paid £2160.

You are bang out of order, the dude can spend on what he wants

I laffed at the way you delivered that response.
But yes I agree, no one should ever tell anyone how to spend their money
I though twice about making the post because I knew that aggressive response like that person gave me could happen.

I'm aware that this generation isn't worth it at all cost-wise and all with the problems is having. There are many to count.

At the same time I thought why not to open the post. I'm just looking for help like any other member. The decision of getting a 5090 is a luxury. But it's my hobby. I don't like amazing cars or Rolex watches.

If I see someone getting a new CPU, RAM, SSD,... Good for him. I don't see the need to criticize or insult.

Thank you for the ones giving advice.

You don't need to justify to anyone but yourself, I wouldn't let it bother you. I wouldn't spend that sort of money on a GPU, but if I could justify it to myself I would.

FWIW if I was buying I would go with MSI, but not an AIO. Probably the regular Suprim or Trio. I've had good experiences with them over the years and they seem to be knocking it out of the park this gen.
