You don't need to justify to anyone but yourself, I wouldn't let it bother you. I wouldn't spend that sort of money on a GPU, but if I could justify it to myself I would.

FWIW if I was buying I would go with MSI, but not an AIO. Probably the regular Suprim or Trio. I've had good experiences with them over the years and they seem to be knocking it out of the park this gen.

That's the 4090 I had for 2 years. The Suprim (air). I worked without any issue even with the first connector H + and the Vbios allowing 1.1v.
Instead regular OC I did a curve with a bit of undervolt and went good.

I have no option for the Air Suprim 5090. I'm not in any list and without being in queue will take a very long time.

For what I can read of the messages the Suprim AIO is not the first option and Air cooled will be better so the Astral OC is the closest to get. Before the weekend it'll be here probably.

I have to look at the case and study what's the best position for the fans to try to exhaust the hot aire of the GPU.

I though twice about making the post because I knew that aggressive response like that person gave me could happen.

I'm aware that this generation isn't worth it at all cost-wise and all with the problems is having. There are many to count.

At the same time I thought why not to open the post. I'm just looking for help like any other member. The decision of getting a 5090 is a luxury. But it's my hobby. I don't like amazing cars or Rolex watches.

If I see someone getting a new CPU, RAM, SSD,... Good for him. I don't see the need to criticize or insult.

This is a forum with lots of people that are very, very well off. I’m doing alright but there’s people here with bags and bags more dough than I have . So I’d just ignore that snarky comment. No need for it and like others have said you’re free to buy what you please and it’s up to every individual to assess what value they’re going to get from a purchase and make a decision. And that’s nobodies business to comment on.

Hi.

I'm getting a 5090 soon and I was checking the models I like the most between the ones that show up every now and then.

So far I'll decide for one of this two:

- MSI 5090 Suprim Liquid SOC. The fact of throwing out of the case up to 600w of heat from the GPU is a good thing. It's quiet and temps are very good both Vram and GPU. Not so good is the pump and how will last.

- Asus 5090 Astral OC. It does throw the heat inside the case. I can try to change the fans set-up to minigate a bit this issue.
Good feature is the fact of letting you know something's bad with the power cable, It uses PTM7950 as thermal compound which is great and being an Air cooled card the temps seem to be good.
The Astral LC version is way more expensive and hard to find.

Which one do you think it's better? Or which one will you chose?

The only AIB I would consider is one with an AIO
If air is going to be dumped in the case you may as well just grab the cheapest or the FE if you can

No point spending hundreds extra if the card doesn't bring anything new or different to the table

Gotta remember that some of us (me included) are buying these for business and do zero gaming.
I don't like paying overs on these but, I get the VAT back and it goes down as a business expense - plus I should get video work done faster and smoother now the 5090 has new H264 encoders/decoders.
My 5090 should be coming tomorrow and while I had to pay £2700 for it, just me getting the VAT back means I only paid £2160.

If you're doing video editing then why are you not using the latest Mac studio? just works a lot better than even what a 5090 can handle.

I had the M1 Ultra Studio Ultra and for what I did, it was as fast as my 3090 at the time so was happy with it.
Apple in general (even M4) seem to struggle when using Topaz video compared to Nvidia.
Then I got a 4090 and it was faster than the Studio so sold the Studio and bought a second PC with a 4090.
I've been waiting ages for Apple to release the new Studio Ultra and I'm underwhelmed by it being only M3 so am staying with PC.
