RTX HDR for games!

Just purchased a RTX card this week and been trying out things like HDR, have to say on non-HDR games like Space Marine it amazing the difference it makes.

Do people use the dynamic vibrance filter as well or just hdr? Also does it override native hdr in a game that has built in?

Never tried the dynamic vibrance filter and don't think it had great reports, well similar to likes fo reshade but I never like it as it just crushes shadows/near black and over brightens the bright scenes.

To use RTX HDR:

- windows hdr on
- windows auto hdr off
- in game hdr off

Unless you hate DLSS then no. You should be fine. I would go for the new Alienware QD-OLED 4K monitor. Stick it on DLSS Performance which is essentially 1080p then in terms of performance needed. Or go Quality and it is 1440p.

Trust me. You may not know what you are missing. But I can tell you now. You are missing...
Your the first person to make me kinda understand DLSS. So if I was to get the Alienware OLED monitor and a 5090 in the future. I want to show off my amazing screen but I'm happy with 60fps should I just stick DLSS straight into quality?

Yep. Though in demanding games you really can get away with DLLS on Performance mode at 4K. You just need to download the latest DLSS file from techpowerup and set it to Preset E. There are videos on youtube to explain how in further detail.

So it's not a simple Nvidia driver update where they put the latest supported DLSS games on there, so it's a separate file.

It isnthe devs jobs to update the dlss file with the latest version. Most never do. So you copy paste it yourself. It isnsuper easy. There is a tool on github that aids find the folder location etc.

Just thought it was like a graphics driver where they update the games for you, nevermind sounds easy.

One thing to remember - online games and their anticheat will most likely revert any changes to diss .dll that you do and they often have old diss versions with much worse quality. It's still better than them banning you for changing game files (it apparently did happen in the past).

dont know why, but the recommended settings dont work for me, im unsing a aw3225qf in 1000nits mode and with mid-grey 50 its too dark in every game. i have to use full 100. dont know why this is happening, because most people use the settings from the reddit post.

At last! :D:D
