RTX5080 with a 8700K

Yea, saw that vid, just not sure, but as you say you only see the failures on the Internet and not the likely 1000s of people with no issues.

I've just gone with the 9800x3d.
Are Asrock motherboards safe enough to use again or have the solutions with the new bios not been verified yet?
The latest update with the PBO changes has not been out long enough, barely 2 weeks since it was reported.

I suspect that is the case with most owners of that combo, no-one knows the exact percentages of owners that have failed, probably very small.

I have a Asrock B850 Pro RS coming today and had also ordered a MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk which is due tomorrow.

Both Boards have very similar specs but the the AsRock is £50 cheaper, I may just go with the AsRock and return the MSI.

I am using a 6950xt on a Intel Xeon X5675 @4.4ghz. I play most games just fine @4k, currently building a much faster rig and this is my temp gaming rig currently. I am definitely cpu bound, A LOT, but if it plays everything you throw at it then why upgrade, only upgrade if it does not perform the way you want. In my case cpu is missing instruction sets so some games don't work. You can certainly put off your upgrade till some better deals come about towards the end of year. I still can't believe how my old system is still playing modern titles almost 15 years later.

if you can't wait then upgrade, you should see decent gains and smoother gameplay.

Actually just found the difference between the boards, the AsRock doesn't come with the WiFi module, it is optional.

New board and processor arrived this morning, all up and running and looking good so far.
Everything gone from smooth to slippery when wet !!

First AMD processor for a while, last one was a 486DX4-100, only seems like yesterday !!

Yes, your 1% lows should dramatically increase even at 1440p UW especially in CPU intensive games. The 8700k is an old girl now. You're seeing a CPU bottleneck as your GPU perf isn't at 99%.
You were spot on, after going from the 8700K to the 9800x3D @1440p UW the 1% lows went from about 20% of the avg framerate to barely anything below.

Playing F124 at max settings I cant believe how smooth it is, nearly too fast for my aging eyes :)
