I have a pretty terrible internet speed out in the sticks. When I lived in the city I had VM and a nice fast internet connection. Since moving in with my partner last year, I have been using her Sky "Broadband" connection. Around 2.3 MB/s. Today I bought a new game which is around 100 GB in size to download. It's been downloading since about 3pm and only got to 40%. I just had a thought, why don't I connect my phone's 5g connection to the Wifi of my new mobo and bridge the connection. My old system didn't have Wifi as well as ethernet. I then bridged the connection and went from 2.3 to 9.6MB/s. My game will now be ready in about 1-2 hours instead of 7. Not that this helps me now, as I am just off to bed.

Anyone else tried this? I'm glad I have unlimited internet on my phone and 5g. I will definitely do this in future for game downloads.

Edit: 10.3 now

A whole thread dedicated to home 5G mobile broadband use, on the next page. https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...adband-thread-three-ee-vodafone-etc.18917203/

You may even be able to do better than the speed you're currently getting if you know where your closest 5G mast is (use the cellmapper website) and have an external aerial.
