Any Ruckus users here, considering ditching the Unifi setup at home and going for a Ruckus Unleashed.

Looking at the Ruckus ZoneFlex R310 model and R510 model atm.

Ultimately I'm planning on having a third party install Cat 6 network cables around the house into a patch panel in the loft.

Edge will be covered by Sophos XG/Untangle/pfsense etc.

I've been investigating the Ruckus Unleashed route also. Just so you're not caught out, the Ruckus R310 is an 802.11ac (WiFi 5) Wave 1 access point, whereas the Ruckus R510 is an 802.11ac (WiFi 5) Wave 2 access point. The R3xx models seem to lag the other models when it comes to what WiFi protocol they support. The newer Ruckus R320 is also an 802.11ac (WiFi 5) Wave 2 access point but compared to the R510 it doesn't have Beamflex+ which can help in improving the signal for mobile devices.

Ruckus R310 - 802.11ac (WiFi 5) Wave 1 Beamflex
Ruckus R320 - 802.11ac (WiFi 5) Wave 2 Beamflex
Ruckus R510 - 802.11ac (WiFi 5) Wave 2 Beamflex+

Not sure I'd be investing ~£250 per AP on Wi-Fi 5 devices, do you have some specific use case that needs the entry-level enterprise product?

Call the Mods! Someone just said the R-word. Ruckus are incredibly expensive and actually not all that amazing in the performance stakes. If you want overpriced just buy Meraki because at least that works and Cisco etc....

No. You’re a smart person. Stop this.
