***Rugby Super League XXVI (other RL chat welcome!)***

Some depressing rubbish on the Wigan forums as people are trying to say what a person should find to be racially offensive. Embarrasing.

Embarrassing and unfortunate, at any time but especially on a weekend where sports teams are going dark to protest social media inaction on racist content.

Still. Investigation first, verdict and punishment if found guilty.

Les Dracs out of the Cup. Possibly for the best (at least for Bernard Guasch's wallet) given what participation was costing

Wigan leading their tie against Hull as I type. 0-4.

***edit***

Jinxed it! Hull try. 6-4.

You know, I'm starting to wonder if Hardaker is actually any good...

20-10. Wigan resolutely awful at times.

Cas vs. Salford coming up.

Cas vs Salford was a slightly higher quality affair than Hull-Wigan, deservedly going to a golden point and the win deservedly going to Castleford - Salford went for the drop goal too early, Cas capitalising on that mistake to get back up the other end and into position.

As far as French rugby goes, Toulouse made my weekend rather better today - they minced Widnes 70-0 in their Championship clash

I know Hardaker wants to stake a claim for the fb spot for England (which Wane has already said is going to be Sam Tomkins), but its not Wigan's responsibility to make that happen for him.

If that was him trying to show that he's a better choice than Sam Tomkins then he blew it, big time...

Anybody selected to go to any games next week?

Nothing planned yet. I'd love to get over to France and watch a match at Stade Brutus sometime before the heat death of the universe, but that's gonna require Johnson's government making good decisions rather more consistently for a bit...

Meanwhile in the Championship it's another week, another Toulouse romp. 0-50 at Whitehaven with 15 mins to go. Certainly was the right call not promoting them to Super League, eh?

0-66 FT. Fair old stomping.

Hull v Dracs highlights:

That's a few matches so far this season where we've ramped up the scoring near the end. And yet Sky commentary still chats **** about us not being an eighty minute side...

*shrug*

Don't fancy Wigan's chances this weekend. In a bit of a false position. Grinding out 2-4 point wins against teams isn't the free-flowing, expansive rugby we though we were going to get with Adrian Lam. Still, could be grinding out 2-4 point defeats I suppose

Well, we'll see. You have a pretty decent record against us after all, including on French soil.

Alrix Da Costa out for four weeks (medial ligament) and Fouad Yaha also missing the Wigan game (rib). Sam Tomkins and Samisoni Langi named in the squad but doubts over fitness linger. We've called up César Rougé from the yoofs just in case.

Sam Tomkins named England captain against All Stars. Both he and Tom Davies had to drive from the south of France to the team hotel in Manchester, since flying on a commercial flight was out due to Covid rules and the England RL authorities weren't about to pay for private air travel like Chairman Guasch has been doing for les Dracs. A 16 hour drive.

In separate cars.

With no hotel stops, just pausing to use pay-at-pump for refuelling.

Bloody well deserves the captaincy after that! I've done that drive a few times.

Castleford 6 - 16 les Dracs  Not bad, given we're missing Tomkins and Davies to international duty and several others to injury or suspension. It's all a bit weird at the minute, waiting to see how officialdom will screw us out of this lead that we've ended up with!

Wigan lost again, that drops them to 4th. And Warrington beat Leigh, who I still think are inching up on getting a result somewhere with the way they're (intermittently) playing.
