rules?

This situation happened because which ever don posted the rules didn't handle the situation very well.

For this reason do you not think it would be wise for OCUK to invest in someone to deal with PR?

As well intentioned as the shop staff and dons are their interaction with the community is often lacking, leading to these situations where things get blown out of proportion and people getting banned for no reason.

These sagas are for more damaging to a companies image than someone mentioning a competitor, after the lack of communication shown by some staff tonight I'm left wondering if I can trust OCUK with my dinner money.

No. I am not a PC games moderator, i am only posting in here becasue all the other mods can't be arsed to!

Grand way to represent the company - openly admit your mod team can't be bothered to justify the rules to the community they are meant to care about.

There's still no explanation why the same company can be mentioned, and linked to, elsewhere.

Indeed why weren't they used instead?

Well in all honesty you don't seem to know the community hugely well, and the community doesn't know you. And you're not a PR guy you're a business guy.

the fact you just said

kinda proves that point and the way this thread is getting away from you does too, even if forum members only make up 10% of the custom (interesting stat btw i guess you're getting it from orders made by linked forum accounts?) you might not want to phrase it such a dismissive way.

The forum is like most internet forums highly stung and quite sensitive, and people in groups will build up trying to out do each other in stepping on or over the line, so saying things like that just provokes an even more negative reactions which you'll take personally and respond more negatively (like valkiyla did) and it'll spiral down badly and get worse till the thread gets deleted and everyone leaves angry and bring sit up again.

Look at the difference in how thundycat dealt with it (and werewolf to a lesser extent) light-heartedly diffusing and politely, never dismissive, unlike the shop admins and that andy underboss guy.People react more strongly than they would normally on a forum.

Aye I do agree. i am not "in tune" with the PC gaming section. Was just trying to help. My post wasn't aimed to be dismissive, just a statement.

The other mods are probably doing better things at this time of night! My battlefield session has gone out the window now with all this posting :(

That quote will haunt him now. lol

Serious question, a while ago someone posted a thread where they met Lewis Hamilton in a competitor store...was this against forum rules? Should Lewis Hamilton be contacted for leading the OP on?

;)

It happened pretty quickly, I'd assume none of them were on until Thundy came in. See below :p

:D

anyone who's been one hrere for more than a month would have seen how badly that was going to go, you'd have thought they'd have given it to the admins of the section to sort out. (as it's a rule/admin issue after all)

people who were chosen for thier actions in the community rather than just because they work for ocuk.

In the past two years i spent about £1500 on here. And before that im sure much more. And ive never looked at another site, as im a loyal customer thanks to this very forum. But after this horrible night im seriously putting a hold on my sandybidge setup and looking elsewhere.

From my point of view the competitor rule is a joke. I think what the dons and OCUK need to realise is that each and every one of us know who the competition ism but due to the loyalty generated buy these forums we all shop at OCUK.

I just spent £1400 on a rig not so long ago, I priced around and could have got it cheaper from competitors. I didn't though, I was quiet happy to pay that little bit extra due to the good customer service I have always received + I would see it as a bit of a betrayal as this is without a doubt been my most visited website in 10yrs.

I really don't have a problem with your posting. You were just trying to help whereas those responsible left.
