Rumor: Windows 8 to play Xbox 360 games

Sorry. I don't have any sepcific PC Gamer credentials to trade in. I have platform wide go-anywhere "Gamer" credential instead. PC included!

For the record, I'm not trying to defend them, because I couldn't care less about the non issue that it is. Any gamer that doesn't care about branding hasn't been affected in any way. Oh noes an evil Xbox logo on the site! *Cancels account* Pathetic.

You still seem to fail to realise the entire fact that your account, has not moved, nor changed, in any way shape or form since you created it. It's like refusing to get your car serviced at the official dealership because they also service their own motorbikes and asked you to walk through the motorbike service entrance while they're painting the car services door.

I don't have a platform wide credential.. the only time you will see me playing on a console is when someone puts it into my cold dead arms. You have a company that made it billions with PC's literally trying it's utmost to completely remove the PC from existance, and you believe that I should slaveishly follow them just because they 'rebranded' the PC into an Xbox.

Except I can see where this is going M$ is trying to move PC users over to Xbox, so they can gouge them for even more $'s, all the while completely ignoring the PC format and it's users, and even pretend that the PC doesn't exist, because heck, Windoze 8 will play Xbox games so we don't even have to do a PC version!! It's just a complete marketing exercise with the eventual aim of parting you from more of your money. And I don't need Xbox.com to do that

They could have just as easily rebranded Xbox Live to Games Live.. and make it truely platform independant, but no, they deliberately chose Xbox as they see that as their future.. and well I don't.. and I have absolutely no regrets deleting that account. That you think otherwise just shows how much of a console fan boi you are.

MS don't want PCs to go away. Don't they still make most of their money from Office licenses? Thing is, most corporations don't pirate products willfully & deliberately, whereas end users (gamers) do.

It makes sense for MS to target consoles as their platform of choice for games. PCs have more piracy and lower prices, and of course the open nature of PCs makes everything more complicated.

Anyway, more on-topic, GFWL was always horrible, and XBox live was always very smooth and polished (when I had an XBox I was impressed by it). If they move the PC "live" system to the XBox system, hopefully it will be better for it.

And Windows 8 won't play XBox 360 games. This is a pretty safe bet.

It's very very very unlikely. The Xbox 360 uses a triple-core PowerPC processor which is of completely different architecture to the CPU in a typical x64 Windows PC. It has more in common with an Apple PowerMac. The overhead to emulate the PowerPC even on a modern quad-core would be immense.
