Rumors 9800GTX

lol, now that would have been funny, jumping straight to 45nm :D

Regarding GDDR5, I think that is fairly realistic, as it seems Nvidia want to completely disregard GDDR4. I doubt it will be running with 2GB though, as that sounds rather expensive option UNLESS the card is a double card meaning 2 X 1GB.

Would be an interesting strategy, coming straight out with the highest performing card possible, a GX2 style card.

No chance m8, the current GTX and Ultra have a bigger bus and more Memory.

They are going to use 512bit as ATI used it last year, so makes sence to give it 1GB of Memory and I still think it will be GDDR4, GDDR5 will have crap Timings for now and high £.

Im not talking about the high end version, im talking about a newer version of the card after the main card has been released. a bit like what they did with the 256mb 8800gt. if you get my meaning.

I would expect 1GB and a 512bit bus, adding another 1GB of RAM will make it stupid expensive.

Jokester

I am guessing (like everyone else) 2GB isn't going to happen.

It does kind of make me stop in my tracks though of doing a temp upgrade from a 8800 GTS 320MB to a 8800GT. I will feel like I wasted my money to much I think :(

Was always said to be FEB 2008 from over 1 year ago.

The lower 9600's hits on FEB 14th.

I guess you will see a new Flagship card end of Feb 2008 or early Mar 2008.

2 gig imo is a two year jump a company like nvidia would not make a move like that considering over the last year 512mb as become the standard the obvious step is 1gig as hardware companys want you to upgrade atleast every six months so they can line thier pockets with shiney coins from our banks ;)

I don't think it's feasible either, just wanted some comments(even the guy who posted this originally says it's just speculation) :)
But it should have:
512-bit bus, ATI has it, it's faster, newer games need the memory bandwidth for :
1GB GDDR4 RAM, i have no doubt they could make it with GDDR5, but they're doing well on the price/performance front right now, i really hope it'll keep up.
200+ shaders, it needs a serious boost in power, Crysis etc. 8800GTX held the crown for over a year, the new one should do it too.

And in regards to the TDP, the 45nm tests that have been out so far in regards to the Penryn processors really show that you can clock them higher than ever before, while still using a very small amount of power.

And also, they have to support DX10.1, anything else would be stupid.

- Codenamed G100
- 65nm process
- 256 shader processors
- 780MHz core clock
- 3200MHz memory clock
- 512-bit memory width
- 2048MB (256X8) GDDR5 chips
- GDDR5 @ 0.25-0.5ns
- Dual DVI-out
- Supports DX 10.1, VP3
- 15-25% lower TDP than 8800GTS

Believable?
I would expect 512-bit memory but i really doubt that 2GB is managable for a good price

I will buy two if this is a fact.
