so my next build is going to have 3 hdds, 1 ssd and 2 hdds i was wondering if it was possible to put the 2 hdds in raid 1 then put all 3 in raid 0. any help would be appreciated

Hmmm in a word no this would be like a Raid 5 array but with a small ssd..

You are best to get 4 HDDS and run a Raid 10 array 2 x stripped 2 x mirrored..

and use the SSD for windows/Linux boot

Why do you want/ need to do this ?

:)

It would defeat the point of RAID 1. Its supposed to be a back up if one drive fails. However, since you would have data stored across different devices if the SSD fails you would still lose all your data. I take it you're relying on the SSD not dying. You're better off just using RAID 1 and just having the SSD normal imo.
